Guest post by Stan Humphries: How Soft is the Housing Market? - 04/27/10 04:22 PM
This post was written by Zillow's Chief Economist, Dr Stan Humphries. It was originally written on Zillow Blog. We got some encouraging news last week about March existing-home sales increasing almost 7% from their levels in February. Unfortunately, a deeper look at the numbers from the National Association of Realtors reveals that inventory of for-sale homes also increased. Despite the higher number of sales, more homes were added to the market in March than were sold. Figure 1 below shows the overall inventory of homes on the market. Zillow Break 10M Mark! See How This Breaks Down Locally! - 04/20/10 03:55 PM
Via Sara Bonert {Real Estate Internet Marketing} (Zillow): I am excited to announce that this March Zillow crossed the 10 Million unique monthly user mark, attracting 10.2 Million people! This is great for us nationally, but what does it mean for you locally? Here are traffic counts for the top metros in the US (sorry, to include every city in the US would be a HUGE list). Remember, you can also always see traffic for a particular area by scrolling to the bottom of the Home Info page located on any property. Now that you know the amount of people viewing the

Home values around golf communities - 04/08/10 01:22 PM
Some interesting stats from my prep this morning for Bloomberg TV interview: Home values around golf communities are declining, but have held up better than surrounding areas. Near La Quinta PGA West, 30% of recent sales have been foreclosure resales, compared with 51% in surrounding Riverside County. Near Pebble Beach, 25% of recent sales have been foreclosure sales, less than the 52% in surrounding Monterey County. Near Torrey Pines golf course, 12% of recent sales have been foreclosure resales, less than the 35% in San Diego county. And what about near Augusta National, home to this weekend's Masters? Home values there

Via Sara Bonert {Real Estate Internet Marketing} (Zillow): We've been holding Zillow educational events across the county that have been very well recieved, and I am excited to announce the next one is in my hometown of Chicago! On Thursday, March 15th, at 9:30 and at 12:30 you can learn all about how you can maximize the tools Zillow has to offer agents. For example, how to maximize your
