austin realtor: The lost art of handwriting a note... - 03/12/10 01:56 AM
There is a lost art of handwriting notes and thank you's.   With instant gratification such as email and texting, I can understand why, however as a REALTOR, it's somethin we need to do on a weekly basis.   With the market we find ourselves in, every touch to our inner sphere is that more important.   There are so many creative marketing idea's and I applaud those who think them up, but sometimes the simplest effort we put forth can mean so much.
So what do you say?   Any holiday is an opportunity to send a card to your sphere.   A birthday, anniversary, … (14 comments)

austin realtor: My efforts of marketing ME! - 10/19/09 02:29 AM
In August I changed Real Estate firms.   The four partners that own The Bartlett Real Estate Group are hands on in helping each agent market themselves.   From the beginning, they have said it's not about advertising or buying your way in to an area, but all about building relationships.
My approach was thinking about me, who I am and what do I love to do?   Once recognized, it's taking that knowledge and applying it to my Real Estate.
I love to cook!   My husband and I have 5 children and we are always having fun in the kitchen putting ideas to … (9 comments)

austin realtor: Be Yourself! - 10/19/09 01:22 AM
"You can either hold yourself up to the unrealistic standards of others, or ignore them and concentrate on being happy with yourself as you are."
How many times have we heard "just be yourself" or "you don't have to follow the crowd". Yet follow the crowd is something that easily happens, especially in Real Estate.   It's simple to see what other Realtors are doing and fall into that cookie cutter type of being a Realtor.   But in today's market, it is so important to set yourself apart from the crowd and to really BE YOURSELF!
So ask yourself some tough questions:

austin realtor: First Impressions at the curb! - 07/09/09 01:30 AM

It has been scientifically proven you have 7 seconds to make a first impression on someone.   In Real Estate, that first impression is the curb appeal of your home.   What do you want that first impression to be?  Easily you could say I want my home to look welcoming and inviting.   How do you translate that into curb appeal?   How do you manifest the outside of your home into looking so lovely that a potential buyer will be drawn to the inside?
Let’s start with the facts; what would a House Inspector say?   He would suggest all foliage trimmed away … (0 comments)

austin realtor: Confidence - 11/12/07 05:24 AM
Confidence comes not from always being right but from not fearing to be wrong.
            ~Peter T. McIntyre
In this market, where it seems the press keeps scaring any prospective buyers, it is easy to lose confidence in our abilities as Realtors.   just keep this simple quote in mind, hold your head up high, dig deep from within, and go after that business!
I read this every day and it boosts my morale and gives me more enthusiasm for the day!

austin realtor: Holiday marketing - offer something for FREE?!?! - 11/11/07 10:57 PM
While chatting with a marketing guru this past week, she said that it is important to offer potential clients something for FREE.   As I go about creating another mail-out, I am focusing in on FREE.   For Halloween, my postcard had a quick and easy pumpkin cupcake recipe on the front.   For Thanksgiving, it is a homemade Cranberry Sauce recipe.   I'm already thinking about Christmas and have hit a brick wall.   Do I create another recipe card or offer Holiday tips?
I would LOVE to get some feedback here on what has worked for other Realtors?   Getting … (6 comments)

austin realtor: Making a list, checking it twice! - 10/19/07 02:39 AM
It's such a great feeling when we get a Client, expecially when they have signed an Exclusive Right to Sell.    After walking through the home, I always create a checklist to help my Client get their house market ready.   We set a Listing Date, then list specific items from the most time consuming to the least.   I always suggest they keep the list visible and go over it every evening as a family.   I encourage them to enlist the help of the kids too - as it's great working together as a family towards a common goal.
Just a little tid bit … (0 comments)

austin realtor: Calling Expired Listings - any advise? - 10/18/07 02:21 AM
As a new Realtor, I am trying to drum up business.   But aren't all Realtors?   I don't have the luxury of referrals yet, so am starting to call expired listings in my area.   I don't mind cold calling, and I'm usually good at starting the conversation and then letting the homeowner talk - but thought I'd throw this out there to see what works for others.
Thanks for your suggestions!!!

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams! Live the life you've imagined. As you simplify your life, the laws of the universe will be simpler. Henry David Thoreau What a great quote... I love this one. It inspired me to hold my head up high and walk a bit taller, a bit faster, towards my goals, my dreams, of being that successful Real Estate Agent. I hope it inspires you too. … (4 comments)
