Am I Missing Something Here? #2 - 09/30/09 06:13 PM
Apparently, this will be my new blog series. Every now and then I read or hear about current events that completely baffle me. My first installment was in reference to the NFL and the way it sanctioned players who have committed a crime. The latest news story to cause me to scratch my head is in reference to Roman Polanski. At first when it was on the news that he was arrested I didn't know enough about the story to react either way. Since then I have learned many details that have made me incredibly angry. The facts: Roman Polanski drugged, (8 comments)

I love showing services - 09/28/09 10:09 PM
I really love using a showing service. I know there are many agents that don't like them and feel that they are impersonal. I on the other hand, LOVE THEM!
As a Buyer Agent I scheduled 10 showings for 2 different buyers over the weekend in 5 minutes with 1 phone call. It saved me lots of time and energy and prevented me from making 10 phone calls and leaving messages and waiting for call backs. Also, after the phone call I received an email with the showing information for each property. This is great because that way I don't (5 comments)
Activerain works! - 09/25/09 08:05 AM
I have been blogging on Activerain for about 1.5 years. Late last year I received my first referral from activerain. After several attempts that buyer was finally able to find a home she loved and she closed on her new home in June 2009. This Summer I decided that I had to re-dedicate my efforts to creating a strong online presence. I participated in the hyper-local and local business blogs and upgraded my website. I was amazed that within 10 minutes my hyper-local blogs were on the first page of google. Within a week of doing this I received 3 credible (9 comments)
Via Paddy Pizappi PineBush & Hudson Valley NY Real Estate (RJ Smith Realty Real Estate Solutions): Selling your home may not be necessary. I know that there are many of you out there trying to figure out the best way out of a mess you are in. You may be considering selling your home because you are so overwhelmed by the payments due to either loan adjustment or income changes since you bought the house. Unfortunately many of you realize that with the lower house values today you won't be able to sell the house right now for the amount you owe. (3 comments)
Today is the 3rd Annual Angie Houtz Memorial Golf Tournament - 09/18/09 06:37 AM
Today is the 3rd Annual Angie Houtz Memorial Golf Tournament. This is one of the most nerve wracking mornings for me because I am constantly running through everything to make sure I did not forget anything major. The charity is near and dear to my heart since it honors my best friend and I want the event to be a huge success. The one thing I can't control, the weather, looks good - partly cloudy and highs in the upper 70s. Great day for golf. If you are in the Upper Marlboro area there's still time to play in the tournament, (5 comments)
Showing all these foreclosures has finally caught up with me. - 09/17/09 11:27 PM
I am sick this week. it's been a long time since I've felt so horrible For days my throat was on fire and my ears hurt, then I had the runny eyes and the sneezing. Of all the weeks I didn't have time to be sick, I have my charity golf tournament tomorrow. I went to the doctor and she said it was allergies. I have always known that I am allergic to mold. However, I have been in and out of these houses with mold all Summer with no problem. It seems, though, that in the Fall there are (10 comments)

8 Years Later...... - 09/11/09 07:33 AM
I am amazed to think that it has already been 8 years since that horrible day. Day to day the crushing pain has lessened but the sense that something is missing from my life never goes away. I still see things and think "Angie would like that" or hear a song that makes me think of her or remember a memory that only she and I share. The hole that her death has left in my life will never be filled. One of the hardest parts of her loss for me is that fact that my children will never know (11 comments)
Via Greg Vogel, Credit Repair Expert (Wellness Credit): Only open new credit accounts when you really need them. Don't open accounts for the purpose of improving your credit or getting a discount on a purchase - it probably won't raise your credit score. In some cases, it may even lower your score. Pay your bills on time. Remember that payment history counts for 35% of your score. Derogatory payment information can and WILL have a major negative impact on your scores for 7 to 10 years. Watch your credit card and/or revolving account balances! High outstanding credit card debt can really (0 comments)

The Elusive Featured Post - 09/02/09 02:04 PM
I have achieved quite a bit here on Active Rain since I first joined last year. At that time I remember sayng "What would I have to write about?" Since then I realize that I actually enjoy blogging. I have gotten to number 1 in my area, passed my friend John in points and he's the guy who suggested I start doing it in the first place. I have seen my blogs get to the first page of google and I have finally begun to get leads from my blogs. I have closed one transaction so far this year that is (6 comments)
