The Bowie Memorial Day Parade is held regardless of the weather and features marching bands, antique cars, dance groups, and much more!
 
The parade begins at the Bowie High School Annex on Belair Drive and finishes on Sage Lane in the Market Place Shopping Center Parking Lot.
 
Sussex Lane Park & Acorn Hill Park will have available snacks, food, drink, and restrooms for the convenience of those watching the parade.

Violence in Jamaica continues - 05/25/10 12:00 PM
The violence in Kingston, Jamaica continues today, 1 week after the extradition order was signed to return Christopher Coke (AKA Dudus) to the US to face drug trafficking charges in New York. 
The violence is mostly concentrated in the rough West Kingston area.  However, there have been sporadic eruptions in the uptown area (where my family is) and other parts of the capital area.  This is all taking place far from the tourist areas on the other side of the island.

It's been tense in Jamaica over the past few months because the Jamaican government has been in a stand-off with the US government over the extradition of a suspected "drug lord" known as Dudus. 
Last week the Jamaican Prime Minister announced that he was signing the order to allow this man to be extradited to the US to face murder charges.  Since then the capital city has been in a state of unrest.

This weekend my husband and I went to Leesburg, VA.  On Sunday we had lunch at Not Your Average Joe's Restaurant in Landsdowne.  The atmosphere was incredible pleasant and friendly.

Dodona Manor is the former home of General George C. Marshall and is located in historic Leesburg, VA.
Dodona Manor was built in the 1820s and was the residence of General Marshall from 1941 until his death in 1959.  The home is furnished with many of the Marshalls possessions and items consistent with the time period.  One of my favorite items was the tv pictured below.

Mother's Day Blessings - 05/09/10 10:45 AM
I was driving home from work on Friday listening to a story on CNN about a little girl in Mt Airy, MD who had terminal cancer.  One of the things that the girl and her mom say to each other is a quote from a book "I love you forever, I like you for always.  As long as i'm living, my baby you will be."  The quote brought tears to my eyes.  It made me realize how lucky I am to have 2 gorgeous and healthy children.
