This week I attended the awards ceremony for The Network Journal"s Top 40 Under 40 Business People for 2010.
The ceremony was held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Times Square, New York.  This was my first time in Times Square.  I have been to New York many, many times but I had never been to Times Square.
The ceremony honored 40 talented minority business people who are excelling in the their professional lives.  I was truly impressed by the talents and credentials of the Top 40 and how much many of them had accomplished at such young ages.

Maytag recalls 1.7 million dishwashers involving several brands - 06/06/10 12:11 PM

The Consumer Product Safety Commission and Maytag Corporation announced today that Maytag is recalling about 1.7 million dishwashers. The heating element in the dishwasher could fail, resulting in a fire.
Maytag says that so far there have been twelve reports of fires and dishwasher damage, including one resulting in extensive kitchen damage. Fortunately, there have been no injuries or deaths.

Help Me Get Rid of This Tree!!!!! - 06/03/10 10:56 AM
I have buyers who are trying to buy a foreclosed home in Bowie, MD.  The utility company cut down a huge tree in the back-yard and left the large pieces of the tree there. 
Of course the appraiser flagged it and says that it needs to be removed as a condition of the appraisal.
This is an expensive proposition.  Both the listing agent and I have called the utility company and got the same result - they only remove trees that are less than 8 inches in diameter.

The parade was fun for the entire family.  The kids were covered in political campaign stickers but it was a good chance for us (the grown-ups) to to learn more about the candidates running for some of the less high profile offices.
There were multicultural groups, antique cars, fire engines, police officers on horses, and much more.

Each member of the family had a different favorite group:
