This lazy Thanksgiving break was just what the doctor ordered. - 11/28/10 10:52 AM
Usually for Thanksgiving we either go to my aunt's house for dinner or travel to my husband's sister in Florida.  This year we did neither.  I have been feeling exhausted and the idea of battling the crowds in the airport was less than appealing.
I joked that we were going to eat pizza for dinner.  Instead we headed to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse in DC.  It was my children's first meal at a really nice restaurant.  They enjoyed crabcakes and steak and I enjoyed my lobster.  When we were done we were surprised with a to go serving of turkey, gravy, and … (5 comments)

Holiday Lights in the Neighborhood!!! - 11/27/10 06:37 PM
My favorite holiday tradition is one that started by accident.  My kids and I love to drive through the neighborhoods to see the holiday lights that people have decorating their homes.  It all began with us driving home from daycare in the evenings and we would try different routes to see what new lights we could find.
We no longer drive home from daycare so now we make special efforts to drive in different neighborhoods to see the decorations.
We kicked off our 2010 holiday light hunting season tonight by driving through some neighborhoods in Bowie, MD.
We found this awesome … (13 comments)

I am having an awesome day!!!!! - 11/18/10 08:47 PM
Some days everything just seems to go right - today was one of those really nice days.
I started the day by attending the honor roll assembly at my daughter's school.  She had mostly A's and 1 B.  The ceremony was very nice honoring the students and their teachers.
I got to have lunch with a good friend then I attended a good workshop where I learned some good information and hung out with my favorite mortgage mama and some other colleagues from EOP Real Estate.
In the meantime, I got a commission check and an application on a rental listing … (14 comments)

Cleaning Supplies Donations Needed - 11/15/10 11:14 AM
It has come to my attention that low income indivdiduals who receive government assistance can not use these to purchase cleaning supplies.  We all know how essential cleaning supplies are to our day to day lives.
I am partnering with the Mental Health Association of Montgomery County, Adult Homeless Mental Health Services to provide laundry baskets filled with cleaning supplies to some of their clients.
Examples of what we need:
Laundry detergent Fabric Softener sheets Dishwashing Liquid Cleaning wipes Sponges Bathroom cleaner Toliet bowl cleaner Floor cleaner Furniture polish Garbage bags We will also accept cash or gift card donations so … (6 comments)

Prince George's County Executive Arrested - 11/13/10 12:56 PM
Prince George's County is all abuzz with the news that the County Executive, Jack Johnson, and his wife were arrested yesterday.
Johnson is accused of taking kickbacks from real estate developers.
The allegations are very damning including that Johnson told his wife to flush a check down the toilet and that Mrs. Johnson had $79,000 hidden in her bra at the time of the arrest.
Johnson has been the Prince George's County executive since 2002, his tenure ends on December 6, 2010.  Prior to his position as County Executive he served at the PG County Prosector.
Mrs. Johnson was just … (9 comments)

Loving My I-pad - Any app recommendations? - 11/12/10 10:36 PM
My wonderful husband gave me an I-pad for my birthday (I had been hinting for months).
I have an I-phone and a Mac so I figured the learning curve wouldn't be too bad.
So far I LOVE it except for the fact that I can't blog or comment here on Active Rain.  However, I can search for homes, write contracts, and sign electronically.  The ability to blog whenever I was moved would make it perfect.
I am slowly setting everything up and I was wondering if anyone had great app recommendations.
So far I just have a few basic ones. … (4 comments)

300,000 points - WOW!!!!! - 11/11/10 11:14 PM
I have been off my blogging game lately.  I have had some dramatic things taking place with a few of my transactions and that has been keeping me pretty busy.
I am exhausted at the end of the day and have been having a hard time working in my usual daily blogs.
Blogging has become so much a part of me that my inability to blog has left me feeling out of sorts - as though some thing is missing.
I logged in this evening determined to get back into my groove and I noticed that I have just passed … (24 comments)

It's Veteran's Day this week and there are many MD retailers and restaurants that will honor veterans this week.  Thanks to Margaret for putting together this wonderful list.
We are all grateful for the dedicated and self-less service of our veterans.
Via Margaret Woda, Maryland Real Estate & Military Relocation Services (Long & Foster Real Estate, Inc., Crofton, MD):

There aren't many holidays that have more meaning than Veteran's Day.  Most of us know and love a veteran, and we're usually “wowed” to hear his or her stories of service.  I guess that must be true of many business owners, … (2 comments)
