I get this question a lot from potential buyers. Of course the obvious answer is that a mortgage professional will be able to help you determine how much home you can afford. But a good mortgage professional is more than just running the credit and determining the maximum amount a person can spend on a house. I hear lots of agents complain about mortgage brokers. Some are described as incompetent, others are disliked because of excessive fees.
