teresa meyer: After 2 years on the market...House sells in 20 days after Staging! Success! - 07/18/07 07:11 AM

The client had been trying to sell his home for the past 2 years here in Cincinnati. He had listed it twice and both times the house sat on the market for 176 days the first time and 192 days the second go around with no offers. Was it a fixer upper needing many repairs? Overpriced? Not at all.  This was a great family house in a wonderful neighborhood. It was well maintained...maybe just a little dated but nothing out of the ordinary for the neighborhood. When the market was really good a few years ago, this house SHOULD of sold...but didn't. … (7 comments)

teresa meyer: Summertime Curb Appeal Tips that sing "Welcome Home!" - 07/01/07 02:14 PM

Summer is a wonderful time to maximize the Curb Appeal of your house. We know all the standard Curb Appeal Do's such as water the lawn, trim the bushes, power wash, etc.... I see alot of houses on the market that have followed all the tips and their homes look, how shall I say..."very well groomed " That's a great thing...its better than weeds in the landscaping and a dirty front door, however sometimes it just looks standardized. Yard is green and mowed (check!), bushes trimmed (check!), 2 flower pots on either side of the front door (check!), and new mat (check!...double … (16 comments)

teresa meyer: An English Tudor Transformation....It's got the WOW factor now! - 06/13/07 02:05 AM

This was an English Tudor that was so much fun to stage!  I LOVE older homes anyway...filled with character, hardwood floors, built ins, nooks, and those beautiful OLD trees with so much shade!  I live in a part of town that is newer so I am used to new construction and trees not over 12 years old so when I get to work in an older part of town with these beautiful homes.....I'm excited!  (As soon as my last offspring is out of school....we are moving into an older home)!
This is also the same house with the awesome new kitchen redo....see and read about … (6 comments)

teresa meyer: Featured in HOME IMPROVEMENT MAGAZINE - 05/05/07 04:25 PM

I was very honored that Cincinnati's HOME IMPROVEMENT MAGAZINE chose to feature Stage a Star in their May edition of "Decorating on a Dime". In addition to us, the magazine also featured other area Redesigners and Stagers.   The feature article "Decorating on a Dime" showcased Makeovers for under $1000 as well as tips from the experts.   I'm always very excited about ANY press from our area Home Staging and Redesigners....it gets the word out and benefits us all!

teresa meyer: Quick Curb Appeal with Paint - 04/21/07 04:04 PM

Before this home was to go on the market, a quick change of paint colors was ordered to appeal to the broadest audience of potential buyers.  Purple was the homeowners fave. color...thus the purple shutters and front door.  After a few hours with a paint brush...the homes curb appeal skyrockets with this great shade of burgundy from Porter Paint.

teresa meyer: Family Room...Defining the Space for the WOW factor! - 04/21/07 03:44 PM

This family room lacked warmth and was uninviting. Great key pieces of leather furniture were left by the owners of the vacant home...all that was needed was decorative accessories to give it the "model home" look and feel that would get it sold.  Happy to report that this home received ALOT of attention and sold within a few months after it was staged.

teresa meyer: Family Room: Accenting with Props make a huge difference! - 04/20/07 04:31 PM

It is amazing how staging props can make a HUGE difference in the presentation of a home!  This particular house had been on the market for 6 months with very little interest and no offers.  Its understandable that potential buyers would be disappointed viewing this home as it looks in the "Before" photo.  Using our staging inventory, Stage a Star created a family room that is now warm and inviting and feels like "home".

teresa meyer: Dining Room...Creating what it was meant to be! - 04/20/07 04:18 PM

The Dining Room in this house was not being used for dining...instead it had confusing mis-matched pieces of furniture in it and was just bland and unattractive.  Stage a Star went to work transforming this room into a beautiful and elegant dining room giving this room purpose that would help potential buyers visualize themselves in the space.  Since the walls were painted a neutral color, we accented red to give the room more drama and pop of color.

teresa meyer: Kitchen Makeover...Model Home "WOW!" - 04/20/07 03:52 PM

This was the kitchen of a client that had been transferred and had barely lived in her new construction home six month and hadn't had a chance to even start decorating.  The client described her home as having a "A college dorm look and feel to it".  We got right to work staging her kitchen and transforming it to give it that "Model Home" WOW FACTOR!

teresa meyer: My Solution to the Angled Fireplace....Pictures! - 03/31/07 06:31 AM
This week I was busy with my team staging an owner occupied house....with many challenges! One of those challenges was the wonderful Angled Fireplace. Here in Cincinnati, we are seeing alot of new construction with this feature. I'm still trying to figure out why builders think an angled fireplace is a great design...I guess it works for them as far as creating a smaller space with angles and vaulted ceilings to give the "illusion" of a bigger room when it really is not.  I'm finding that my clients with these wonderful angles have no idea how to arrange their furniture so they do what most do...push … (3 comments)
