As we head into some extreme temperatures in Northeast Ohio over the next few days here are some simple tips of advice.

·     Heavy sweaters are cozy, but the most effective way to protect yourself from frostbite and hypothermia is to layer up on the warm, loose-fitting, lightweight clothing.
·      Rain boots are just not the same as snow boots. Make sure your footwear is insulated
·       To keep pipes from freezing, keep the water running water at a trickle

·     Fill up your gas tank, this will keep the fuel line from freezing.

I have a blackberry and my wife has a droid.  And to be honest with you I am not impressed with either.  They both have their quirks in my opinion. The blackberry can be slow and lacks all the free apps the droid has. The droid on the other hand takes a sensitive touch to use. You can really get frustrated going from the blackberry to the droid.
So I have been seeing the ads for the new Microsoft driven smartphones.  They seem to be pressing speed and function being much better. If anyone out there has one I like to hear their opinions.

Here is the market report for Avon Lake for the past month of December for those of you that may have missed this report 2 weeks ago.  Homes sold in Avon Lake over December was up 39% compared to last month. Homes that are in pending status were up 41.7 %  with 17 homes in the area right now in pending. Inventory was down 6.6. % which is another indication that homes are selling and competition for sellers has decreased some.

Chris's point I just had to re-post because of two things. 1. I just love his title line "no all bunnies are cure". You have to read the story to know he was not referring the type of bunnies we are thinking of. and 2.  He makes a good point here to home sellers.  If you are wanting to get that home to sell it has to look great inside including cleanliness. On average, when a property is under insured homeowners have to pay 45% of costs to replace, repair or  rebuild their homes when there is a loss..

An eighth-inch (three millimeter) crack in a pipe can spew up to 250 gallons (946 liters) of water a day, destroying floors, furniture, and personal property.  Both plastic (PVC) and copper pipes may burst.
Before the cold hits.......... INSULATE pipes in crawl spaces and attics.  These exposed pipes are most susceptible to freezing.  Remember:  The more insulation you use, the better protected your pipes will be.

Home sales in Avon, Ohio have shown an increase over the last 30 days.  Current data supplied by the multiple listing services has indicated that sales over last month have increased 8.3%.  While the number of homes in pending status have shown an increase of 200%, yes that is 200%.

The Avon Lake Patch reported today that there are efforts to open 3 roads to Canterbury to relieve the traffic pressure to Troy School. This extention is in great need and it is good to hear effort by Bucky Kopf and the city to resolve this problem.  Click on this link to read on. In a nut shell a contingency clause are provisions in a contract (or deed) that make the parties' rights or obligations depend on the occurrence (or even non-occurrence) of certain events. Avon Lake Homes: When can I change over the utilities to me? - 01/10/11 10:41 PM

I have had first time buyers ask me how early they can have their utilities switched over to them. The answer is if you know what day title will be transferring you can ask utilities to switch over at that day and no earlier.  The utility company will usually ask you the transfer date.
Now many utilities will want confirmation on that date from the seller and that is understood and if you get that message back from your utility company just contact your agent and let them know and they will pass the word on to the other agent.

Considering the weather we are having in Northeast Ohio and other parts of the country I thought I share some safe winter driving tips that are available through the triple A.
