First Sunday - Monthly Arts and Crafts Event in Pittsboro   

Sometimes the best events are small town events.  Pittsboro, NC holds a "First Sunday" event every month, featuring original and handmade arts and crafts.  Nothing mass produced is allowed in the vendor booths!  First Sunday is held in downtown Pittsboro, and is a combination of local merchants and area artists as well as individual craftpeople.  Pittsboro is just a short drive from Raleigh, and the event runs 12-4 pm, which makes it a great after church activity.

If you're a mom or dad of young children, there is a great new place to take the kids in downtown Raleigh. 
 
The Marbles Museum is touted as a hands-on, interactive experience - and parents love it. 
There's a courtyard with water activities, boulders and a "creek", and across the courtyard from the musuem is an IMAX theater.

Silk Hope Elementary serves over 500 students in the Silk Hope area, which is northeast of Siler City and northwest of Pittsboro in Chatham County.  The area is becoming sought after by families who work in the Triangle but want to raise their children in a country environment on their own land.  This elementary school has some terrific scores, for both teachers and students.
