Governor Walter Dalton and Governor Bev Perdue to declare North Carolina to be in a State of Emergency. Residents in the Raleigh area experienced their first white Christmas in over 60 years.

 
Snow began to fall in Raleigh and Cary around 8pm, December 25th. By the end of the day, .4 inches of snow had accumulated, tying the current record for the highest amount of Christmas Day snowfall, which was set in 1947.
