Christ Episcopal Church will catch your eye as you walk or drive through downtown Raleigh.
Not only is this beautiful stone church visually appealing, it is actually the oldest example of early Gothic Revival style in the South.

As part of a tour of the State Capital or a downtown Raleigh walking tour, you won't want to miss the North Carolina Veteran's Monument.

The North Carolina Veterans Monument is a stately stone monument dedicated in 1990 to honor WWI, WWII, and Korean War veterans.

 
Each side of the base is dedicated to veterans from one of the three wars - WWI, WWII, or the Korean War. 
A plaque lists major battles and depicts a battle scene.

Raleigh Recreation - Looking for something to do this weekend?  
The History Museum in Downtown Raleigh is FREE and well worth a visit.  And right now, there's an exhibit on display that is even more compelling than usual.
"A Thousand Words: Photographs by Vietnam Veterans"
This special exhibit consists of 60 photographs, taken by young men who were serving in the Vietnam War. 
The room is quiet.  Each photograph tells a story - the photograph itself is described by the soldier or the soldier's family. 
There are photos of cities, with tree-lined streets and shiny cars parked.
