COSTCO Comes to AIRDRIE - 10/27/10 11:12 AM
Well its officially open for Business - Our BRAND NEW AIRDRIE COSTCO

After the Grand Opening Weekend - I finally ventured over to see what the NEW store was all about.
Greeted by friendly staff, getting my membership card and photo in no time flat.  I breezed on into a shoppers paradise.
Large screen televisions all playing a current fun movie, made me want to grab a chair - grab some popcorn and settle in - of course I think they may have NOT wanted me to.
From batteries to the latest gadget - what more could a person want.  … (0 comments)

WHAT MORE DO BUYERS WANT? - 10/27/10 10:58 AM

I was just reading a Blog from an agent on Activerain.  Where she bent over backwards to help find a first time home buyer a home.  She negotiated a great price, had the seller cover closing costs, plus gave some of her commission back to them.  ( they even had some furniture thrown in the deal from the seller)
OMG, then at the end of the transaction - they had the NERVE to ask for a Closing Gift?!@#
(she already gave them $1162.00 plus !!!)
Time and Time again - we cough up our hard earn commission, or more for the … (10 comments)

WORKING WITH A BUILDER - 10/15/10 01:25 PM
As a local REALTOR I've had the pleasure to work with many local home builders over the past years.
Basically, that's how I got my start in the REAL ESTATE business.  I worked as an assistant in a show home and then to an Area Manager.
Having my REAL ESTATE license benefitted my clients (one stop shopping) and myself. It kept me on my toes and in the loop on both sides of home selling.  (*clients love the fact that you're  the full meal deal - you've built trust and reliabiltiy)
Currently I have 2 listings on BRAND NEW townhouses in … (2 comments)

REALTORS ARE NOT CASH COWS - 10/14/10 03:42 PM
During this transition, your current Facebook Marketplace listings in Houses will remain on Facebook Marketplace until they expire. As of October 20, you can continue to post multiple listings at the following rates:
· Unlimited listings for $500/month;
• Tiered Packages for independent agents available
FACEBOOK MARKETPLACE wants to start charging REALTORS to use MARKETPLACE for their listings.
Although only a fraction of marketing I do, BUT Seriously....what NEXT.
Feeling sort of like a "CASH COW" for BUSINESS TO Rape and Plunder...my hard earned money....

RULES OF BUSINESS CARD DESIGN - 10/10/10 10:41 PM

I was reading an great article by LOGOWORKS - talking about mistakes made on business cards.
I think as REALTORS we've seen our share of bad cards.  Like the one above.  Too many words, the photo isn't great and what the heck is the wording all about.
The LOGO is important and the placement.  I was talking to a Advertising Desinger who works with big corporations to establish their branding.  He gave some great ideas for my business card.
Proof the heck out of your card before you order it.   Mistakes can be missed.
If you can afford it, have a … (7 comments)

SIGNS SIGNS EVERYWHERE - 10/07/10 03:50 PM
Well the political race is heating up in Airdrie, Alberta.  The Battle of the ELECTION SIGNS are all over our city.
Local FORUMS and ARTICLES in our local paper, have some hot under the collar.  IT'S an interesting time to say the least.
I've had several phone calls personally from people I know asking who they should VOTE for.  This is the FIRST time - I've ever been called or asked such a question.
With such a MEDIA frenzie out there- its hard NOT to get confused.     I haven't personally made a decision, so I cannot give any advice.
Take in … (0 comments)

FORECLOSURE - 10/03/10 12:54 AM
Ok, so maybe I don't understand foreclosures at all?   I recently showed a 1926 square foot - two storey home in Airdrie, Alberta -
Situated on a nice family street with similar homes - other that knowing it was a FORECLOSURE - you didn't see any distress to the home from the outside.
BUT BUT BUT - when we walked in the SMELL was awful, and cat barf all over the carpets and JUST DIRT everywhere.   All the appliances are remove, even the hood-fan and some lights.  Thank goodness the exposed wires had been capped off.
SO MY QUESTION........THE BANKS HAVE ALL … (9 comments)

Iron Horse Park Airdrie, Alberta in Jeopardy - 10/03/10 12:45 AM
I know a lot of people who have put a lot of effort into the park over the years.  It will be such a shame to see it gone.  Thank you Bill for bringing this to the forefront -  The City of Airdrie is getting rid of park space for progress?!?  I for one don't want to live in a concrete jungle.
