Do you have woodpeckers around your home? The last 3 years we've been visited by LARGE number of them. Recently we started hearing a noise rattling from the roof down through the wall of our home.  The woodpeckers were dropping acorns down through the plumbing vents on the roof. I found a great solution available at your favorite plumbing supplier.  A 2" "snap in" floor drain.  The openings are too small for the woodpecker to deposit the acorns.
