New Oklahoma law for for gasahol starts July 1 - 06/30/08 10:03 PM
Starting tomorrow (July1) all stations in Oklahoma are required to have their pumps labeled as to the content of their fuel. This evening I found a Conoco with no label, Sam's with a label stating their fuel contains 10% ethanol or less, and Valero (122nd & Western) with 100% gas.  You may have seen the piece Channel 9 did regarding the damage ethanol did to lawnmower engines and other small engines. Apparently it ruins the gaskets.
Although you may pay a little more (I paid $3.83 this evening at Valero) You should see better gas mileage and better engine performance. For … (5 comments)

AR opens a new world - 06/29/08 08:38 PM
First of all, here's hoping everyone had a great weekend. My weekend got off to a great start on Friday with a closing.....WOOHOO!
As a fairly new realtor (just over a year)and one who is not terribly computer proficient, AR is a breath of fresh air. I have recently updated my website, and got hooked up with Google analytics. I have also figured out how to get my posts taken off the newbie site not once but twice, found a marketing group, a Keller Williams group, a referral group and also a group for real estate videos. While I have learned a lot, … (9 comments)

Oklahoma City Market - 06/26/08 09:02 PM
I really enjoy crunching numbers, however, the numbers I'm crunching today don't taste so good. First of all let me say I don't consider myself to be a negative person--I do consider myself to be a realist.
According to figures I pulled off our MLS site, closings in the OKC metro area are down 29% for June 1 thru today June 26 as compared to the same dates in 2007. Sales in Mustang are down almost 40%, in Yukon down over 32% and in Edmond down 29% compared to the same time last year, so it's not just one area, it … (2 comments)

Closing gifts - 06/24/08 12:05 AM
I am looking for some closing gifts that are meaningful, useful, and/or unique. So what are the best (and worst) closing gifts that you have given, received, etc. I'm thinking this might get interesting. Have you ever given a gift that backfired on you? So far I haven't had that happen but I don't like giving the same thing every time.

Mega Camp - 06/15/08 08:27 AM
As a new agent ( just a little over a year) is Mega Camp worth the time and cost? If I go, do you have any advice for getting the most out of it?
I am enjoying AR and particularly this KW group. Happy Father's Day to all fathers out there. My boys are coming in from out of state so I'm excited about that. So my kids are here, I can watch Tiger play after my open house(the guy is amazing isn't he?)--doesn't get much better than that.

How are you coping with $4.00 gas? - 06/10/08 01:33 PM
Here in OKC we are not at $4.00 yet but $3.85 is bad enough. How have these prices changed the way you do business? Here are some of the changes I've made....
1. We have a Honda Pilot and a Hyundai Accent. The Pilot gets about 18 or 19 mpg, the Accent 28-30 mpg  around town. Needless to say, the Pilot is spending a lot more time in the garage and the Accent is fun to drive.
2. I'm really trying to concentrate my business close to home---NW Oklahoma City, Edmond, Yukon, and Mustang. All of these areas are convenient for … (7 comments)

Hello From Oklahoma City! - 06/08/08 07:35 PM
Welcome. I'm Steve from Oklahoma City, one of the nation's best kept secrets. I am excited to be a part of this community. I know I will learn a lot but I also hope to be able to open some eyes regarding our city.
When I moved here in 1991 there really wasn't much for OKC to brag about. But thanks to some visionary leaders a remarkable transformation has taken place in the last 15 or so years. It used to be this town relied totally on oil but now we are much more diversified. Energy is still a very big … (5 comments)
