January was a strong month for Columbia, with two out its three zip codes experiencing strong increases in sales.
 
 
21044 – 21044 was one of those zip codes. This portion of Columbia saw an increase in sales of almost 20%, over $1 million more than last year.  Average sold price was actually down by almost 9%, though five more homes were sold this month than the same time last year (21 versus 16).  What is worrying, though, was the increase in how long homes generally stayed on … (3 comments)

January 2012 was a good month for Howard County, and fairly comparable to last year.  Sales were up almost 9% compared to 2011, and the average sold price was almost identical, $384,627 versus $381,088, a difference of less than 1%.  With 154 homes sold this past month, Howard County experienced an increase of over 7%, even though the number of active listings is down a little over 7% compared to last year.  Average days on the market was almost identical to 2011, though two homes took over 721 days to … (1 comments)

Howard County, as a whole, saw a good amount of sales volume, and Ellicott City was no exception.
 
21042 – The 21042 portion of Ellicott City saw a good month.  Sales in 21042 were up over 20% compared to 2011, mostly attributed to the average sold price being almost 30% more than last year.  The number of units was slightly down, 19 compared to 21, though homes were leaving the market over 25% quicker than last year.

Catonsville experienced a pretty good January to kick off the new year.  Sales were up 2% compared to last year, the average selling price was up over 20%, and the average days that homes spent on the market was down by almost 20%.  Four less units were sold, however, at 22 versus 26, though four of them sold within 10 days and two within 20.
