Memorial Day Weekend in Maryland is traditionally when there is a mass exodus to the shore, in particular Ocean City or the beaches of Delaware. There does not seem to be a great deal of real estate happening with a mere 36 Resale Residential Open Houses in Howard County on Sunday May 29th. I am sure very few people have missed the recent news on the huge amounts of snow that the MD/VA/DC region has endured. It is going to be sometime before the snow melts. Snow is in the forecast again for Maryland this evening. Currently it is a very chilly 20 degrees. Potentially another day of showing homes will be ruined tomorrow. If I have to endure snow I wish I could be back in Beaver Creek, CO and enjoy a good day of skiing.

Is this a sign of things to come? I am pleasantly surprised today as I am collecting listings to venture out with a first time homebuyer client. Of the 9 homes that she wants to see, 5 are short sales. Now usually this would fill me with dread. We have talked at length about the LONG process that usually comes with a short sales and the unpredictability of what may happen once the bank responds. We are expecting snow AGAIN in Maryland. I know it's winter, but a usual Maryland winter consists of MAYBE 4 snowfalls for the entire season. It seems that we are expecting our forth snow storm late tonight and into the morning and it's only January! The first snow of winter is always wonderfull. We dig into storage and find all of our snow weather clothing. Pull out gloves and hats and dust off the sled. This year it was the perfect wet snow that made amazing snowballs and huge snowmen.
