Don't Forget the Sacrifices - 05/24/07 06:30 PM
Another Memorial Day weekend is upon us. Three days off! And it's easy for me to think about this weekend that way. But it’s much, much more than just a holiday. Right? I’m talking to myself. For many years I didn’t really reflect upon the meaning of Memorial Day. Shame on me. Countless men and women have sacrificed their lives to gain and secure the freedoms I enjoy. Therefore, I am grateful this weekend. And reflective. I hope the following video helps you to be, too:
The Case of the Bounced Check - 05/24/07 10:43 AM
Here's another one of those crazy escrow stories courtesy of Charlene Hughes of our Sonora office (you'll appreciate reading it to the end!): My client told us that this would be an all cash deal. He told us the money was in his trust account and all he had to do was get it released to him. He works with my husband, Gary, so okay. He seems very trust worthy. Right? He writes an offer and puts his girl friend on the contract. We began by ordering inspections and we were off. The pest inspection was done within a week and (0 comments)

Google Earth to Enhance Your Listings - 05/22/07 05:27 PM
Most of you know about Google Earth - that online virtual globe where you can search for and look at satellite images of anywhere on the planet. I wanted to mention one way you can use Google Earth images to enhance your listings. It's pretty simple. You download Google Earth to your computer. Then you go in and search for one of your listings. (Type in the address in the search bar at the upper left of the page.) Once you have your listing, save it to your desktop (File>Save>Save Image or Ctrl+Alt+S). And then you're ready! - to include as (1 comments)
All Your Links in One Place - 05/22/07 10:44 AM
For Sugar Pine Realty agents - I mentioned the Sugar Pine Realty blog to an agent the other day and they replied, "Yeah, yeah, yeah. I keep getting your emails. Visit the Sugar Pine Realty blog to read the latest post. Yeah, yeah, yeah." It isn't my intention to raise your blood pressure with these constant reminders. But it is to keep you up-to-date on what I hope is relevant information to promote your business on the internet. Today's post is more about the blog itself. Did you know that many of your necessary real estate links are right here in (0 comments)
The Benefits of Sugar Pine Realty's Transaction Management System - 05/21/07 10:32 AM
For Sugar Pine Realty agents: By now you're all experts with Transaction Point, Sugar Pine Realty's transaction management system. Right? No matter if you're an expert or not, it is true that Transaction Point offers numerous benefits to the escrow and closing process. For one thing, all vital documents are stored online. And since they are, all parties involved are able to both receive and access documents quickly and easily. And so you can email paperwork to lenders and the title company (less the paper). You can order inspections, natural hazard disclosures, home warranties, etc., with minimal effort. You can fax (0 comments)

For your convenience, Sugar Pine Realty is now offering sales reports for three area multiple listing services. These reports include home and land listings that have closed. Of course, the numbers are way down compared to the previous years of a booming housing market. But sales are still taking place even though things have slowed. Click the following links for your report of interest: Tuolumne County Sales, Calaveras County Sales, Hetch Hetchy Sales. The April 2007 sales reports will hopefully be available very soon. A Blidget Widget - 05/20/07 09:48 PM
"All right. This guy's losing it." You can admit it. Some of you think that about me? "He spends too much time looking at a computer screen. It's got him talking weird." You might remember in a recent post my weird talk was about "widgets" as the new technology that allows you to embed small web-based programs in your websites and blogs. Today I want to talk weird some more using the word: "blidget." Simply put, a blidget is a widget. (Try to say that fast three times.) A blidget is a widget. A blidget is a widget. A blidget is (0 comments)
Take the Real Estate Career Poll - 05/17/07 05:04 PM
I work for a real estate company in the Sonora, Twain Harte, Mother Lode area of California. I need your help. I don't know how many hours a good real estate agent should put in each week to be successful. Please take the Real Estate Career poll below so I can find out how much work you're putting into your career. And then consider these questions: How many hours should a real estate agent put in each week? When is too much too much? Where is that point as you see it? Thanks for voting in the poll and I look (2 comments)
Even Superman Had a Weakness - 05/16/07 06:49 PM
Faster than a speeding bullet. More powerful than a locomotive. Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound. Wasn't Superman great? But don't forget even Superman had a weakness. Do you remember what it was? (Not Lois Lane.) It was kryptonite. So what's yours? Even real estate agents have weaknesses. But it's not having weaknesses that's the issue. It's what you do with them. Are you going to try and improve or are you going to just live with your weakness? The successful agents become better in their weak areas and seek to strengthen themselves. A good starting place is (0 comments)
A Lot For Your Money - 05/14/07 11:57 AM
To all Sugar Pine Realty Agents - Somebody once said: "Nothing in life is free." And so it is that there is a per year per agent charge of $250.00 for the Sugar Pine Realty website. Which comes out to be about $21.00 a month (in case you were wondering). And if you really want it boiled down, that's 68 cents a day (exactly). And we can focus so much on the money side of things (have you ever done it?) and the costs of services while all the while we can forget what we're getting for our investment. And with (0 comments)
Report Card Time - 05/08/07 10:20 AM
It's time for grades to be passed out. Of course, for the kids in school. But it's also time for your own website (or blog, too) to be graded. Visit Website Grader to find out what you're doing right (or wrong). Some of the interesting info you'll find on Website Grader after you input your web (or blog) address: (1) Your overall website grade out of 100 possible (sugarpinerealty.com is 80/100); (2) The readability level of your website (high school, college or Phd, etc.); The lower the grade the better - it's true!; (3) The total inbound links from Google and (0 comments)
The Lady in a Bottle Escrow Story - 05/02/07 01:44 PM
What's happened to you at the last minute to cause one of your escrows to fall out? Listen to what happened to Don Pucilowski of our Coulterville office that almost cancelled one of his: Once upon a time in the land of Don Pedro when I worked for brand X real estate, I had a listing on a fairly nice maintained manufactured home which was owned by a widower. He was a man in his late sixties living by himself since his wife had passed away. He just wanted to sell his home and get on with his life and do (0 comments)
