I made this comment on Randy Prothero's featured blog post: Does Active Rain Need A "Block Sender" or "Censor" Button? He should therefore get all the credit for bringing up the subject. But I felt so strongly about the discussion that I wanted to turn my comment into a blog post. And just real briefly, when it comes to the subject of censorship and the potential of censoring certain "bad apples" on ActiveRain, I say, "Slow down." Do you have a plan in case of a fire? Yesterday afternoon in South Lake Tahoe a destructive wildfire broke out and as I'm writing this post the latest update is: approximately 2500 acres burned and 220 structures lost. And it hasn't even been 24 hours yet! Living in the Sierra foothills we can forget that it is a tinderbox (especially in the summer months) and so it's important to be careful as well as ready should the unthinkable happen. It's yet another point of interest I'm highlighting today in the southern Sierra foothills area of California. This time it's in Calaveras County. Near the town of Vallecito you’ll find Moaning Cavern. On the Moaning Cavern website it’s heralded as “California’s largest public cave chamber.”  To give you an idea of the cavern’s size, the example used is the Statue of Liberty. It could literally fit inside Moaning Cavern! (Now that’s big.) Tuolumne City doesn't get much press versus other cities in the Mother Lode. But this weekend it's all about Tuolumne City. The annual Lumber Jubilee is taking place in town starting tonight at 7 p.m. with the Queen coronation. It's another Tuolumne County point of interest I'm highlighting today. This time it's Railtown 1897 Historic Park. It's vintage steam engines you'll find at Railtown 1897 and be able to ride. One of the engines is the famous Sierra No. 3. Among the many things that's cool about Sierra No. 3 is the list of movies it's been seen and used in including High Noon with Gary Cooper, Back to the Future 3 with Michael J.
