Speechless Sundays - The Real Green Gator River - 05/31/10 12:06 AM
My wife Marla took these 6mp shots of the waterway that surrounds Jungle Adventures near Titusville, Florida. The 200 gators ate all the fish who eat the vegetation and this is what you get. Green duckweed soup! Please note: This is NOT typical Florida water. It's an enclosed ecosystem in a Roadside Attraction.

Notice not one bird is wading in the water? They must sense a gator under all that slop and don't want to become lunch.

No swimming in the ole gator hole!

Speechless Sundays - Welcome to Cocoa Beach on this Memorial Day Week End - 05/30/10 11:46 AM
The beach is packed this week end and you have to get there early to find a good parking space.

Coconuts on the Beach is a popular watering hole and beach area.

The Coconuts Crowd. It's party time on the beach!

My Grandson Thomas approves of this blog! :-) He's a big fan of the beach. Please take a moment to remember those who have sacrificed so much so that we can enjoy days like these.

Fast, light and deadly!

There is a surprising amount of memorabilia inside the center.

Wordless Wednesday - Mongoose Bike and Surf on the Beach - 05/26/10 10:20 PM
I love my late afternoon bike rides! Notice the drink holder, cell phone pouch on the handle bar and rear bag for the camera. Oh, BTW, this is my 200th post!!

Not the best surfin' waves but fun to watch and breathe in. I'm pretty sure there was a rip current.

Surfer Dude checking it out. That's the Kennedy Space Center in the distance.

The tide rolling in.

Speechless Sundays- Another Perfect Banana River Sunset in Cape Canaveral, Florida and a Live Oak Tree. - 05/23/10 11:44 AM
Another perfect Banana River Sunset in Cape Canaveral, Florida.

Florida Live Oak or "Evergreen Oak"
The name live oak comes from the fact that evergreen oaks remain green and "live" thoughout the winter when other oaks are dormant, leafless and dead looking. Their branches sprawl close to the ground and they can live for 200 years or more. I took this shot on the way back from viewing the sunset.

A majestic tree in Cape Canaveral.

Florida Love Bugs are in the Air...and on your windshield and in your hair and.... - 05/18/10 11:26 AM
It's Florida love bug season again but fortunately the little love makers will only be around for several weeks.

According to Wikipedia, there is a theory that love bugs give a clue as to whether there is going to be an active hurricane season. Florida, in 2004 saw a lot of love bugs prior to an active hurricane season. In 2005 and 2006, there were fewer love bugs and the state had relatively quiet hurricane years. This year there are love bugs EVERYWHERE and it is predicted that the Atlantic is to have a very active storm season from June … (5 comments)

Speechless Sundays - Florida Bikini Squad Realtors - 05/17/10 01:53 AM
Another hard working Florida Realtor conducting business on Cocoa Beach. Her associates must be surveying the area for potential clients. Life is tough!

Oh wait! There they are discussing they best way to hold an open house. The client looks motivated :-)

It's standing room only at the Coconuts Open House. This must be a hot property!

Wordless Wednesday - Florida Manatee Submarine - 05/12/10 08:54 PM
This Florida Manatee looks a bit like a submarine to me - a very well fed submarine. My wife took this photo at Sea World. Manatees spend up to a third of their lives eating and consume about 7.5 times their body weight every day. They come up for air as often as every 30 seconds but can stay under for 20 minutes when resting. They are slow swimmers averaging only 3 to 5 miles per hour and that's why many have propeller scars from boats. It's pretty cool to see them down by our community dock or when we're out … (19 comments)

Central Florida Boating in Kelly Park, Merritt Island. What a Great Way to Spend the Day! - 05/12/10 10:15 AM
Kelly Park on the Banana River in Merritt Island features a natural catamaran/sailboard launch area with sandy beach and shower, boat ramp and docks with adjacent parking for cars and trailers. Near a small scenic lagoon, a paved walkway connects a mid-sized pavillion with picnic tables, grills and facillities. It's a popular spot for family gatherings and events.

Boating with the family is a great way to spend the day.

Let's go fishing!

Friday's Sunset Fotos - The End of the Day in Cape Canaveral, Florida - 05/06/10 11:16 PM
Watching the sunset was the perfect break from troubleshooting my desktop. If it doesn't cooperate tomorrow, it may end up in the lagoon!

I feel calmer now :-)
