 Over the past several years the "mold issue" in homes has become an issue (pun intended). As a Realtor I'm asked by my buyer's how it does come about and my response was very limited. But after reading the link below I think now I can respond with a more informed position. It all comes down to home maintenance with a deligent home owner the "mold issue" can be prevented.
  
1. Eliminate clutter, pare down your stuff, cleaning your home very well once a year.

I look forward to the annual home improvement projects that get the best return report from the National Board of Realtors Association publishes. You can check your area return out too.  In Central Ohio there are four projects that get you the biggest return, they are, add an attic bedroom, add a back-up generator, remodel your basement and replace roof. When I saw the return on a back-up generator for our area I thought this is odd, but it makes sense, we can get very strong winds and ice storms which will knockout electric and cable power.
