chester county: Thankful Thursday, 6/2/11 Swinging Summer Thursday in West Chester! - 06/02/11 09:31 AM
Tonight is the first Swingin' Summer Thursday of the season in West Chester!  The weather today is nothing short of spectacular so being outside tonight will be a wonderful time!  Tonight's music will be Blue's and I will be tapping my foot to the music!  I'm thankful to Suburban West Realtor's Association and Home Builders Association for sponsoring tonight's happy hour
Anyone who has been within whining distance of me this week knows that my central air conditioning system waved goodbye to me on Monday night.  It's been in the 90's all week and I have been nothing short of miserable. … (13 comments)

chester county: Get a free pretzel in Chester County on 4/26/11! National Soft Pretzel Day - 04/21/11 03:12 AM
Having grown up in South Philadelphia, soft pretzels are near and dear to my heart.  There was actually a little Italian man who went up and down streets pushing a small pretzel cart most days in the summer.  You could get a regular sized pretzel or you could get a small 3 inch sized pretzel.  The mustard was in a big container with a long stick and he would slather mustard on your pretzel.  I'm thinking 5 cents each or something like that!  The pretzels were still warm from the bakery, crusty on the outside with just the right amount of … (20 comments)

chester county: Thankful Thursday, Hersheys Mill trees are celebrating Spring! - 04/14/11 08:27 AM
It's a gloriously sunny day in East Goshen and today is my day of the week to deliver Meals on Wheels.  One of my all time favorite places to be in the spring is driving around in Hersheys Mill.  This over 55 community is located at the intersection of Greenhill Road and Boot Road and, to my untrained eye, is one of the most lovely and scenic neighborhoods in the area.

It's always a pleasure, in every season, but spring is my favorite time of year to drive through the neighborhood.  The trees are celebrating Spring!

chester county: Thankful Thursday! Spring makes an appearance in East Goshen, Chester County! - 04/07/11 07:15 AM
Spring has been a long time arriving this year, in my opinion.  It seems to me that we are almost ready to pay taxes and only a few trees are in bloom.   Aside from yellow daffodils and forsythias, there really hasn't been much color.  Yesterday, though, I came across this lovely flower in my front garden bed!
There aren't many of them, but they are a welcome sight!
Today, while driving through Hersheys Mill doing my meal deliveries for Meals on Wheels, I came across this beauty.

Hersheys Mill is a lovely over 55 Community that is breathtakingly … (14 comments)

I don't know about anyone else, but I have never been so glad to see March arrive as I am this year.  It's been a long and dreary winter and I am anxiously awaiting spring!  The first Friday of every month is exciting around here.  Here are just a few things to do in the area tonight, the first Friday of March!

chester county: Finally!! A non-snowy Tuesday for an Open House - 02/08/11 12:57 AM
Hopefully I am not speaking too soon about the lack of snow!  The sellers at 659 Leeward St in Valley Township have had their open house rescheduled twice so far this year due to overactive snow clouds or freezing rain in our area.  It's looking a little bleak out there, which put me in mind of what I believed to be the postal service's theme.
"Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds"
Well, according to Wikipedia, the postal service has no official creed.  Why must I … (11 comments)

chester county: Thankful Thursday, 1/27/11 - 01/27/11 11:06 AM
We have been deluged with snow this year.  Early yesterday morning and all through the day and night it snowed like crazy here, dumping hundreds of inches of snow on Chester County.  Okay, maybe it wasn't hundreds of inches but it was at least a foot of snow and being stuck in the house doesn't exactly make me feel thankful.  I'm pretty much a homebody but I want the choice of going somewhere.  When the choice is taken away, I can't stand to be home!

The roads were cleared and I managed to get to the food store to buy … (16 comments)

chester county: Chester County Food Cupboard, Always in Need of Donations - 01/24/11 08:59 AM
In the fall of last year and through the holidays my office participated in a group food drive to benefit The Chester County Food Cupboard.  I dropped the food off just after the first of the year and got a lovely letter from the woman who runs this worthy charity.  There are many people who are struggling right now and seniors are a huge group.  Many are on fixed incomes and the cost of their medication often exceeds that income.  This leaves little or no money for food.   In addition to seniors there are many struggling families who simply can not put food on … (4 comments)

chester county: Open House! 239 McIntosh Road, Bradford Square, Chester County - 01/23/11 02:09 AM
I have really started to enjoy sitting open houses.  This house is really a warm and cozy home with a fireplace in the living room, a dining room, new granite counters in the kitchen and a family room on the first floor.  There's an extra large deck for entertaining friends and family and tons of extra parking out back for visitors.  I will be holding this great house open today, 1/23/11 from 1 to 3.  Please stop by and say hi.
Shown here before winter set in!  This is how your new home will look in better weather!

chester county: Another snowfall in West Chester! - 01/21/11 01:47 AM
We woke up to more of the pretty white stuff here in West Chester, PA.  My township, East Goshen, does a terrific job with snow removal and the county certainly has it's act together when it comes to helping people get around in bad weather.  West Chester area school district called a two hour delay instead of a snow day, and the collective groans of thousands of kids could be heard above the yippees of parents everywhere!

It was only a few inches and it looks pretty and the clean up was easy.  Another snowfall behind us and looking … (16 comments)

chester county: Talking Trash in East Goshen Township.. Oh, and recycling too! - 01/03/11 05:23 AM

There are some changes to our trash and reclycling in East Goshen Township and a rather long letter was sent to our homes.  Thankfully, the days will not change this year and recycling will still be picked up the first collection of the week.  I had gotten so tired of my husband asking me if tomorrow was trash day, that I acutally wrote a note and left it at the back door telling him when it was!   Here's a simplified version, taken from the East Goshen Township Website.  Whoever does their site is excellent as I find it to be one of … (6 comments)

chester county: Get a jump on other buyers on great listings! - 01/02/11 11:30 AM
Some people think that the spring market starts in March.  Not true!  The spring market actually starts in mid January when people head out, thinking they are just looking.  Smart sellers are on the market well before Super Bowl Sunday and smart buyers get the pick of the litter.  Here's a great townhouse that is looking for a smart buyer to along!

chester county: Old Fashioned Parade was a huge success in West Chester, PA - 12/04/10 08:54 AM
It was a great night to be in West Chester last night!  This is one of my favorite events of the year! It was frigid but the cold only put me more into the spirit of Christmas!  This parade was nothing short of spectacular and I only wish my camera had cooperated and taken better photos.
One of my favorite things was seeing The Lone Ranger on the tallest and most beautiful white horse (Silver) that I have ever seen!  It was truly something to see.

There were 8 high school marching bands, one better than the other and … (11 comments)

chester county: Another Beautiful Day in Chester County! - 10/24/10 02:23 AM

The sun is shining on all the gorgeous colors of Chester County today and I am showing houses to a nice set of buyers.   There are so many nice houses to choose from, and with rates still at an all time low, I wonder why everyone isn't out, if not looking for a primary home, looking for investment properties.  There is truly something for every budget on the market and you do not need to look for bank owned properties or short sales either, both of which are often not the "great deal" that unsuspecting buyers think they … (1 comments)

chester county: Autumn in East Goshen, Chester County - 10/11/10 06:09 AM
I've never been very good at endings.  I think I cried at the end of every school year growing up and I get very melacholy on New Year's Eve.  The end of summer just about does me in, particularly now that I have a son who goes away to college every September!  My brokers send us a motivational email every Monday morning to get the week started on the right foot and one of the quotes struck me as just right.
Don't cry because its over, Smile because it happened! Dr. Seuss So, instead of morning the end of summer, which … (12 comments)
