Industry Realtors vote Keller Williams the #1 Brand - 12/21/09 09:27 PM
On December 3rd a nationwide online survey was launched to determine the "Most Recognizable Franchise Brand in Real Estate." After a whopping 390,000 votes, Keller Williams Realty was voted just by industry professionals as the #1 "Excellent brand".
In the end an astonishing 11,355 agents voted, casting just over 390,000 votes for 33 different real estate franchise brands making this the largest survey of its kind in the industry. Soon, Your Real Estate Agent Could Be Paying You! - 12/18/09 10:32 PM
It's illegal right now in New Jersey, but pending legislation would allow real estate brokers to pay clients a portion of their commissions at the close of a deal.
New Jersey is one of just 11 states that don't allow the incentive, said Sen. Nicholas P. Scutari (D-Union), one of the bill's sponsors. It would be up to the individual real estate agent to decide whether to pay the client and how much.
"We're trying to help the real estate market and to allow real estate agents and brokers to make deals happen," Scutari said.

Consumer Rebates on Real Estate Transactions Proposed in New Jersey - 12/18/09 08:53 PM
New Jersey currently prohibits rebates or incentives to consumers, as well as referral incentives to non-licensees. Now, the NJ Senate's Commerce Committee proposes allowing just brokers, not real estate salespersons to offer rebates.
I know states vary on policies. I recently saw a reminder on a great Toronto real estate blog that the agent happily gives generous American Express Gift Certificates for client referrals. I know consumer rebates on closed transactions and referral incentives are related, though separate topics. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this. Does your state allow rebates? Referral incentives? After 181,000+ website hits, articles on more than 400 websites worldwide and appearances on newscasts coast to coast, the sale of the little cottage at 7 1/2 West End Court has been finalized.
While the prospective buyers came from all directions - there was the entertainment attorney from Nashville, the music industry executives from New York who were going to make it into a songwriter's retreat and a group of fans from London, in the end, the buyer was a Jersey girl, her brother and their good friend.

Tax Credit Has Been Extended and Expanded - 12/10/09 12:09 AM
There are thousands of articles on the Federal Tax Credit for new home buyers. Now the credit has been extended until next Spring and expanded to those who have also owned a home before! I like to recommend buyers get solid information from the source - the IRS site that explains exactly what the credit is. The expansion of the tax credit extended the credit to couples earning $225,000, roughly $55,000 more than previously.
