Family Fun: The Loomis Eggplant Festival Saturday October 1, 2011 - Come on up! - 09/30/11 06:56 PM
Have you ever been to Loomis, California?  If you live in the Sacramento area and haven't been there, plan to take a little drive this Saturday October 1st 2011 for the 24th Annual Eggplant Festival.
From Sacramento, take the 80 freeway to Horseshoe Bar Road, go north a few blocks to Taylor Road, and you will be in the heart of the small town of Loomis.  It takes me less than 30 minutes from my home in Fair Oaks, and it is a pleasant and easy drive.
One of my favorite ways to spend a day is at the High … (4 comments)

Don't give up too easily! - 09/30/11 01:43 PM
How many times have you taken buyers out to show them dozens of homes and they finally find the perfect one, but before you can submit your offer, it goes into escrow? It has happened to all of us, and sometimes the buyers are so deflated that they stop their search until they can get past the loss of "their" home.  And if they really are grieving and feeling like giving up, they might feel that "fate" has decided they shouldn't buy a house right now.  They might even stop returning your calls.Maybe I'm more stubborn than most, but I don't give … (5 comments)

Fair Oaks Chicken Festival of 2011 - the best ever!! - 09/27/11 06:22 PM
Last weekend, you may recall, Fair Oaks California had its annual Chicken Festival, honoring and celebrating our famous feral chickens that wander the Fair Oaks Village.  The festival covered the whole village, including the streets, which were blocked off for the event, and two adjoining parks.   Jon and I attended and had a wonderful time.  In fact, I believe it was the best one yet!  It was so well organized and there were a huge number of booths, three great bands in Plaza Park, and the kids park (Village Park) had so much going on for the kids that many families … (4 comments)

Realtors CAN get more clients without chasing or pestering people! - 09/22/11 08:50 PM
Most real estate agents wonder how to get more clients.  Blogging is one great way, but it doesn't often get immediate results, and it may take awhile of someone reading your blog posts before they finally call you.  We need some way of going out to get more clients, but everyone wants to try whatever they can without investing a lot of money on mailings or advertising. After all we can't grab folks in the supermarket and talk them into listing with us or even listening to us talk real estate.  It can feel awkward trying to start up a real estate … (16 comments)

Why ALL your blog posts should be distributed to groups - 09/18/11 01:37 AM
A few days ago I wrote a blog post titled:  "Get More Exposure for Your listings by posting in groups."   That post didn't receive a lot of comments, though it apparently did get noticed by a lot of Active Rainers because I have gotten some emails about it and even one phone call. It seems that that many people get frustrated that although Active Rain has provided a link at the top of each page to a list of all of the groups, it is very time consuming looking through the list because it is neither alphabetized nor categorized, so many … (81 comments)

Red Lobster in Citrus Heights CA - We really enjoyed our evening there! - 09/16/11 07:53 PM
Last night my husband Jon and I decided to have a real date night.  We hadn't really done that in months.  Oh, we had eaten out, but it was usually just because we were hungry and didn't feel like cooking.  We didn't have reservations, but decided to chance getting a table at a cormfortable but nice restaurant. We went to Red Lobster in Citrus Heights, sat in the bar for awhile and had the most delicious cocktails!  I'm not much of a drinker - I don't have anything against it, it just doesn't occur to me to have a drink.  I … (9 comments)

Webcam 101 for seniors - 09/15/11 01:42 AM
I don't know if you have seen this video, which has just gone viral.  This couple just got a new laptop from their daughter with a webcam in it, and although she explained it all to them, they can't remember what she said.  All they are trying to do is to take a picture with the webcam to see if they can make it work.  They had no idea that it was recording them the whole time.  They are really cute. There are so many great things to learn in today's technology, and we all have trouble keeping up with it … (13 comments)

Get more exposure for your listings by posting in groups - 09/13/11 01:56 AM
I have seen a number of Active Rainers who post listings on their blog but do not post them to any groups.  I have sent a number of brand new Rainers links to some great groups that would welcome their listing posts, but it is not only the newbies who don't do this.
If you want more exposure for your listings, I recommend that you post them in groups that are especially set up for that purpose.  People looking for a property  area might just find them easier that way, and you just may help your google ranking for it … (11 comments)

It’s time again for the annual Fair Oaks Chicken Festival!  If you have ever been to the Village area of Fair Oaks California, you have seen the feral chickens who wander the neighborhood. And as you know, chickens have the right of way in Fair Oaks – and they don’t use crosswalks, so please drive carefully.Once a year we have a big festival in the Village to celebrate our famous chickens, who have been written up in national magazines, covered by television news teams, and loved by the residents of our town.  No one knows for sure how they came to … (5 comments)

Of course as bloggers, we all learn from the experiences of each other and share what we have learned from seminars and programs that we have attended (we all believe in sharing info, and this membership helps us all and … (19 comments)

Can anything beat this feeling? - 09/09/11 12:47 AM
Nothing beats the smiles when a family is moving into the home they love!  I was so happy to have found this great waterfront home for them in Elk Grove, California and help them to purchase it.I went by the house today as they were moving in, and I brought a housewarming gift.  The wife laughed and spread her arms wide.  She said, "You didn't need to buy us another gift.  You already got us this - our dream house!"We laughed and chatted and I helped unpack boxes for a couple of hours before I had to leave to get home … (11 comments)

What are my best practices for success in real estate? - 09/06/11 10:23 PM
What are the best practices I use for success in my real estate business?  I have been asked that question many times - especially by new agents or agents who are experiencing a slump in sales.I could talk about open houses or flyers or organization techniques, and all of those are important for success.  But the most important practice of all is the least complicated:  keeping in mind that it is all about the client! If you think about it from the perspective of the buyer or seller, what is most important to them?   Do they care that your calendar is color-coded … (30 comments)
