Our yard smells so good! We have star jasmine growing all along the back side of our laundry room, and it has begun to grow over our pergola as well (competing with the grapevines that have always covered the pergola). They have such a sweet and happy fragrance!  And we can smell it in the back yard of course, but we also smell it in the house and in the front yard. It’s time again to get ready for Christmas in the Village of Fair Oaks, California.  This year the celebration will be on Saturday, December 5th, and it is a wonderful way to kick off the holiday season.
Festivities begin at 1:00 pm with Santa and Mrs. Claus on hand for children to visit.  They will be available until about 3:30.  Meanwhile, from 1:00 – 2:00 and again from 3:00 – 4:00, there will be holiday music filling the area.

Celebrating the Chickens
If you are at all familiar with Fair Oaks Village, you know about our chickens.  Hundreds of wild and beautiful chickens roam the Village, and they have been part of the character of our town for many years.  They have even been the subject of national magazine articles.  Families come to the Plaza Park in the heart of the Village to watch them, and children of all ages laugh and enjoy their antics.  Some folks bring birdseed to feed them (please no junk food).
