Phoenix Field and Phoenix Park - a great neighborhood in Fair Oaks CA! Many current visitors and residents in Fair Oaks CA are unaware that there used to be a pioneering small airport right here. It was very popular before larger airports were built, but eventually it was turned into Phoenix Field residential development and Phoenix Park. The neighborhood that occupies the old airport is full of street names like Kitty Hawk, Runway, Propeller, and other aviation-sounding names. The Phoenix Field area of Fair Oaks California has an interesting history! Many people don't realize that the Sacramento area used to have a number of small airports, which have since been closed. Homes or other developments now stand where planes used to land. One of these was Phoenix Field in Fair Oaks, California. The airport opened about 1947, had a 2600 foot long runway and a parallel taxiway.
