Don't worry, Social Media is a FAD! - 04/22/09 07:28 AM
My recent attempts at teaching classes in my office have been frustrating, to say the least. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink! Without elaborating, suffice it to say that I swear @zipvogreg has been listening in on my phone conversations recently! Please don't miss his video.
Via Greg Afarian (ZIPVO): It's depressing how Real Estate agents and professionals around here (New England) know so little about the importance of social media. It was obvious today after we went door to door promoting our class on Twitter & Facebook to offices, owner brokers, and managers (5 comments)

Oh Bull! - 04/21/09 03:27 AM
We have some beautiful, rolling real estate here in Haywood County with many agricultural areas. On my way to Alpacas of Riverside Farm this weekend, I discovered a new farm I hadn’t seen before which raises Scottish Highland Cattle. ‘The boys’ were resting under a tree when I spotted them and pulled off the road, and while curious about me, weren’t at all concerned that I was taking their pictures. Don’t I have a cute underbite!
Alpacas Brighten the Real Estate Landscape in Haywood County, NC. - 04/19/09 01:35 PM
Yesterday ‘Alpacas of Riverside Farm‘ invited the public out to their farm off of 209 to view some of their beautiful alpaca up close while they were being prepared for shearing, toenail clipping, dental trimming, and weighing. The sound of clippers filled the air, which sound I remember fondly from my horse show days. The alpaca are beautiful and so appealing. If you are wondering when you can go see them, the phone number for the farm is 828-627-9903. I hope you enjoy the photos as much as I enjoyed taking them. Aren’t I beautiful?

Does This Waffle From Joey's Pancake House Make My 'Arse' Look Fat? - 04/13/09 03:46 AM
My trip to the Sunrise Service at Lake Junaluska was shrouded in pea-soup fog even though it was 32 degrees outside, so my photo opportunities at the lake were non-existent until breakfast at Joey’s Pancake House here in Maggie Valley. Joey’s Pancake House led me into temptation.
The residential real estate market in Haywood County has been showing an increase in inventory recently; however, the average listing prices for the active listings are coming down. This indicates that pricing of the active listings is starting to align more realistically with today’s market, which in turn will reduce the days on market and increase sales.

Hanging On (Barely) In The Real Estate Rodeo But Loving the Thrust! - 04/02/09 04:31 AM
Pursuing real estate has 'thrust' me into an arena that I truly love. Thinking I was smart for moving from Hawaii to a tiny log home (450 sq. ft.) in a beautiful yet affordable mountain town in North Carolina to survive financially while obtaining my NC Real Estate Broker’s license, my business plan was almost immediately directed to developing, legitimately, over time, my internet presence and eventually, my credibility, by communicating on my website and the internet on a daily basis with relevant, interesting, and at times irreverent, content. Merely competing with realtors who have lived in Haywood County all their (8 comments)
Haywood County, NC - 1Qtr Sales by Price Range - 2009. - 04/01/09 06:16 AM
Today’s market report is merely a picture of the closed transactions for the year so far, by price range. Nothing over $600,000 has sold so far this year, but 32 homes (out of 91) priced between $100,000 and $200,000 closed between January 1 and around noon on March 31, 2009. Last year at this time, we had closed 129 residential transactions, with the highest selling price being $810,000. There have been 28 land transactions this year, as opposed to 53 last year for the same time period. The Asheville Citizen-Times had a very informative article yesterday about not only Asheville’s market, (3 comments)
