boyd mountain log cabins and tree farm: Santa and His Reindeer Seen at Boyd Mountain Christmas Tree Farm in Waynesville! - 11/27/09 01:04 AM
Last week was ‘opening week’ for Boyd’s Christmas trees and wreaths season. I stopped by at sundown and there was St. Nick.
Boyd Mountain Christmas Tree Farm is where many people in Western North Carolina go to get their Christmas trees every year. I go there year round just to take in and photograph the beautiful of this beautiful Haywood County farm.

You may recall I rave about Boyd Mountain Log Cabins and Christmas Tree Farm, a great place I recommend for friends and visitors who want to stay in beautifully furnished, conveniently located, authentic log cabins when they are in Maggie Valley or Waynesville.
“The cabins are nestled in a 130 acre cove overlooking the Smoky Mountains, stocked fishing ponds and our Fraser Fir Christmas tree farm. Cows in the meadow, horses in the pasture, ducks and geese on the ponds, and 3 friendly Jack Russell terriers to entertain you.”

It is always beautiful at Boyd Mountain Log Cabins and Christmas Tree Farm, and last week was no exception. The flowers are amazing and thriving (we have had lots of rain this Spring), and the Christmas trees are much bigger than the last time I visited.

boyd mountain log cabins and tree farm: If You've Got Nothing To Do, And Lots of Time To Do It, Come On Up to North Carolina. - 03/06/09 01:43 AM
These beautiful geese were grazing and sunning at a home on Lake Junaluska yesterday as the last of Monday’s beautiful snow was melting.

These colts at Boyd Mountain were happy to have some fresh hay to enjoy after a roll in the nice, cool dirt. I imagine these furry colts are hoping the warm weather coming up will help them slip their winter coats.

boyd mountain log cabins and tree farm: Overheard in Downtown Waynesville...Oh Santa, What a Big Beard You Have! - 12/14/08 01:08 AM
Bulldog Bonnie Williams and I enjoyed the company of an Alexandria, VA client last night in beautiful Downtown Waynesville, North Carolina, not to mention the sights and sounds of merchants, horse carriages, and Santa. Stores and window displays were sparkling and bright, and the children were everywhere, both naughty and nice.
Enjoy some of the Christmas photos I took last night!

boyd mountain log cabins and tree farm: Nothing Beats A Boyd Mountain Log Cabin and a Cowboy! - 12/12/08 09:53 PM
It was my pleasure to experience the thrill of spending some time at Boyd Mountain Log Cabins and Christmas Tree Farm this week. The majority of this article was written in the early morning hours during my ‘to die for’ stay at Boyd Mountain. The Cosby Cabin was the cabin I played stayed in, and it goes without saying that I fell in love with it. Very hard to go home… there just aren’t any Christmas trees or horses in my view, not to mention a Cowboy in the stall!

You can pick up your Christmas tree at Boyd’s … (8 comments)

Snow in the forecast, wreaths on log cabin doors, fires burning in the fireplaces, naked trees on the mountains, Christmas trees at Boyd’s… if we can’t celebrate the economy, we can enjoy, and dwell on, the beauty of the season!  As my realtor friend, Cynthia Tilghman in Onslow County, NC (she specializes in military relocations to Camp Lejeune)… said this morning: “Turn off the radio and tv….”
Here are a few of my favorite things, with Cynthia’s comments in mind, to get you out of the house and away from the news and in the Holiday mood… or in the … (11 comments)

boyd mountain log cabins and tree farm: Don't Think 'Real Estate' in Waynesville and Maggie Valley Can't Be Colorful! - 09/11/08 11:44 PM
Late yesterday afternoon I decided to look for signs of Fall in and around Jonathan Creek so I could share more pictures of the beginning of the changing of the season from Summer to Fall here in Haywood County, North Carolina.  Once again I ended up visiting Boyd Mountain Log Cabins and Tree Farm, expecting to find displays and beds of early Fall foliage and colors that I could photograph.  Look what I found (with not a For Sale sign in sight)!

boyd mountain log cabins and tree farm: More Rustic Log Cabins for Your Enjoyment at Boyd Mountain Log Cabins, Waynesville, NC. - 08/22/08 10:42 PM
This RES visual tour is for those who enjoy authentic, hand-hewn log cabins.  While taking photographs at Boyd Mountain Log Cabins and Tree Farm recently, I noticed two 'new' authentic, rustic old cabins being rebuilt on the property.  Boyd's cabins, nestled in a cove on a 130 acre Fraser Fir Christmas tree farm, are brought in from all over the country, rebuilt, and furnished elegantly for your enjoyment and pleasure.
Talk about a spectacular place to come enjoy the mountains... and if the timing is right, pick up your fresh Christmas tree.

boyd mountain log cabins and tree farm: Boyd Mountain Log Cabins and Tree Farm, Waynesville, NC is Still 'Flowering!' - 08/20/08 09:38 PM
Late yesterday afternoon I took another drive out to Boyd Mountain,  and I returned home with my camera once again filled with more beautiful flower photos.
Soon fall will change the landscape and colors of the beautiful property owned by the Boyd family, and my passion for bright colors will be abated by the gold, green and orange leaves painting the mountains, and the 'ripening' Christmas trees that fill the rolling terrain of Boyd Mountain Log Cabins and Christmas Tree Farm. I will always find an excuse to drive out there!

The pink petals of this flower, beautifully lit by … (6 comments)

boyd mountain log cabins and tree farm: Naked Butterfly Ballet in Jonathan Creek, NC. - 07/23/08 08:11 PM
Riding up to Carver's Crossing in the Jonathan Creek area of Waynesville, North Carolina, Monday for a Broker's Open brought me too close to the Boyd Mountain Log Cabin property not to stop in again to see what new blooms were calling my name.  Sure enough, the beautiful orange and pink of this flower caught not only my eye, but that (or those) of a butterfly.

The Boyd Mountain Log Cabins and Tree Farm property in Waynesville, North Carolina, is not only covered with Christmas trees in all stages of growth, but also flowers of many beautiful varieties to marvel at, some of which I have never seen before. The beautiful bloom below, amidst the trees and authentic log cabins, seemed to me to be trying to expose every nook and cranny to the late afternoon light of the setting sun.
