lake junaluska: Lake Junaluska in Haywood County NC Getting a D&C (Draining and Cleaning). - 02/21/10 09:32 AM
It is not often that you see Lake Junaluska this dry, even if it’s only for draining and cleaning. (The first small picture was taken several weeks ago after a good snowfall.)
Guess it’s a good time to ‘clean’ the Lake while the temperatures are so cold, and our Spring visitors are still at home.

lake junaluska: Frozen Lake Junaluska in Haywood County NC ~ January 2010. - 01/09/10 12:12 AM
Lake Junaluska was quite a beautiful sight early several mornings ago as the sun was rising … revealing a frozen white layer that is an unusual occurrence here in Haywood County NC. I love the color of the first two photos before the sun crept over the top of the mountains and cast a different light on the pictures.

lake junaluska: Maggie Valley, Waynesville and Lake Junaluska Were Beautiful After Last Week's Big Snow Storm. - 12/25/09 11:50 PM
Following our big snow storm and power outage last week, I decided to head, Flip in hand, to KMart in Waynesville for a camping stove, but I was too late. Not a camper stove on the shelves, so off I went to Ingles Grocery Store. Ingles was so jammed with customers that I didn’t even go inside; instead I drove through Lake Junaluska and then drove by Tube World in Maggie Valley. The video below gives a view of Tube World, as well as the snow in Maggie Valley, Waynesville and Lake Junaluska. The Cataloochee Ski Area has been a popular … (7 comments)

Yesterday afternoon I stopped at Lake Junaluska after a big rain storm as I love taking pictures of beautiful flowers that are wet. They made for a nice slideshow. It's Sunday morning and STILL raining!
If you like picture collages, I ran across a site that provides a very easy way to create a collage. Here's the information if you are so inclined:  Flickaroid.

Is this supposed to be Wordless Wednesday on Active Rain?
Sunrise early yesterday morning on Lake Junaluska was quite spectacular, to say the least. I went to the Lake to meet a friend for a walk, came home with a couple of photo treasures.

Are you contemplating your Fall trip to the mountains of Western North Carolina to see the changing of the leaves? Lake Junaluska in Haywood County has a great package during the month of October: Leaf Lookers Railroad Excursion Special. Lake Junaluska is also a prime residential area if you are looking for your mountain home in a beautiful 'neighborhood' centered around the Lake.

lake junaluska: Chasing Rainbows in Maggie Valley. - 05/29/09 04:30 AM
Florida-like weather has hit Haywood County as we have 'enjoyed' almost daily thunderstorms recently, usually in the late afternoon or evening. Maggie Valley and Waynesville both needed the rain. The video show below was 'shot' right after a little rain storm, so many of the flowers were beautifully wet (you know I'm thinking succulent), and the rainbow was a welcome sight. Now, if I could just find that pot of gold.

lake junaluska: Does This Waffle From Joey's Pancake House Make My 'Arse' Look Fat? - 04/12/09 08:46 PM
My trip to the Sunrise Service at Lake Junaluska was shrouded in pea-soup fog even though it was 32 degrees outside, so my photo opportunities at the lake were non-existent until breakfast at Joey’s Pancake House here in Maggie Valley.

lake junaluska: If You've Got Nothing To Do, And Lots of Time To Do It, Come On Up to North Carolina. - 03/06/09 01:43 AM
These beautiful geese were grazing and sunning at a home on Lake Junaluska yesterday as the last of Monday’s beautiful snow was melting.

These colts at Boyd Mountain were happy to have some fresh hay to enjoy after a roll in the nice, cool dirt. I imagine these furry colts are hoping the warm weather coming up will help them slip their winter coats.

Both of these pictures were taken on the same day (Saturday, October 11th), at almost the same time, at the same place - - beautiful Lake Junaluska.  Many roses are still blooming in passionately bright colors around the Lake while the trees at the same time are ‘blooming’ in their own spectacular jewel tones.
Don’t forget about the 2008 Apple Harvest Festival this weekend (if you are looking for an excuse to come to the mountains). Good arts and crafts, good food, and good entertainment!
