susie blackmon photos: Waynesville NC Farmland ~ A Blast From The Past. - 01/11/10 08:22 PM
Wouldn't it be great to just hook up your horse to your carriage or your buckboard to go do your errands in town? Waynesville has beautiful farm land, with farmers raising cattle as well as crops. The vintage tractor photo I posted the other day was taken at this same farm property location in Waynesville NC, as were the unique shed photo, and the chicken photos.

susie blackmon photos: Maggie Valley's Sunrise Was Something to See This Morning. - 11/17/09 12:51 AM

© Susie Blackmon
The sunrise this morning in Maggie Valley was amazing (again). Temperature was a brisk 40 degrees.
Just an hour or so later I was standing on my deck and noticed smoke that wasn't from a fireplace. It came from across the creek from me (not close), so I hopped in my SUV, wrapped in my leopard Snuggie, to see where the sirens were leading.

There are more fire photos here. Hopefully no one was injured.

susie blackmon photos: I Am So Miserable Without You at this Maggie Valley Creek that It Is Almost Like You Are Still Here! - 11/09/09 05:32 AM
Early Sunday morning as I went to do an errand, I took a quick detour in Maggie Valley to see how the some of creeks looked. They sure looked cold and rapid. Soon I will be able to capture snow on the banks of the creeks. (I noticed quite a few perfect spots along the creek for an Airstream.)

These photos were taken late Friday afternoon (10/30) in Maggie Valley close to Ghost Town. It was drizzling rain when I was taking the photos, and as you can see, our fall leaves were evident on the ground instead of in the trees.
If you like creek photos, please look at my set of creek photos on Flickr. We have had a good bit of rain, so the creeks are great to photograph right now.

susie blackmon photos: Maggie Valley NC Getting All Decked Out for the Fall Leaf Lookers. - 09/27/09 03:03 AM

Maggie Valley features four distinct and beautiful seasons, and is preening for Fall 2009, as evidenced by the pumpkins that are dominating the decorations of many businesses along Soco Road, which is the 'main drag' in Maggie Valley.
Cabbage Rose is a retail store in Maggie Valley that is beautifully decorated year-round. Not only do they have unique things to dress up your home and your body, but they have a huge section of nothing but Christmas decorations.

susie blackmon photos: Are Your Maggie Valley Pumpkins Wet Or Are You Just Happy To See Me? - 09/22/09 11:08 PM
We have had quite a bit of rain recently and Monday it didn't stop raining all day so I had to take a photo run to see how full the creeks in Maggie Valley were. Great to see that the businesses in Maggie Valley are starting to 'dress' for the Fall season. Orange really stands out when the skies are grey.

Yesterday afternoon I stopped at Lake Junaluska after a big rain storm as I love taking pictures of beautiful flowers that are wet. They made for a nice slideshow. It's Sunday morning and STILL raining!

Sunrise early yesterday morning on Lake Junaluska was quite spectacular, to say the least. I went to the Lake to meet a friend for a walk, came home with a couple of photo treasures.

Sunday afternoon my drive around town was full of photo opps in Maggie Valley -- horses, Fall leaves with great color, balloon biker dudes and beautiful flowers. Fall decorations at local businesses are starting to appear, so soon we will have our Fall 'clothes' on for our leaf-lookers.
Several of biker dude balloons were ‘anchored’ at the Festival Grounds in Maggie Valley, home to many events and craft fairs during the year. The unique Festival Grounds feature stunning mountain views, and close proximity to shopping, lodging and restaurants.

Meetings with realtors are much more fun when they are held at The North Carolina Arboretum in Asheville. Spiders, frogs and beautiful flowers were all within a stone’s throw of our meeting room. Thankfully there weren't any spiders IN the meeting room.

susie blackmon photos: Let Him Buck on Speechless Sunday! - 08/30/09 05:24 AM
This pretty little 'chocolate' colt caught my eye Friday afternoon while I was looking around at the different horse properties and farm properties in Maggie Valley. The Crabtree area of Haywood County has more beautiful farms decorated with horses and cattle than Maggie Valley does, so this handsome guy surprised me since he wasn't too far from the Festival Grounds in the heart of Maggie Valley.

susie blackmon photos: Horsing Around Again in Haywood County, North Carolina. - 08/06/09 09:41 AM
Visiting friends in the country is always a treat for me, especially when they have horses. George and Sheila Mills have a beautiful home and a barn (which they built before the house!), and a pasture with 4 gentle, well taken care of horses out in the Clyde/Crabtree area here in the mountains of Western North Carolina.
George is a realtor here in Haywood County, and since I was visiting to talk about Social Media, I'm hoping to get him to sign up on Active Rain. He and Sheila have dogs and cats as well as the horses, so they had … (7 comments)

Lake Junaluska always provides new and beautiful views and/or flowers each and every time I drive around the Lake, depending only upon the season. Yesterday afternoon it was warm and sunny, and the swimming area was quite busy. Hard to imagine getting into the water since the temperature on my deck yesterday morning was 52 degrees.
