LOVE, LOVE, LOVE ..... LOVE IS ALL YOU NEED! - 05/31/11 10:08 PM
This last weekend John and I went to Surf Side on one of our wind down silent parties. It was great not too many people for the Memorial Weekend yet. There were 4 police cruisers for every one car. That was a little over kill but you never know when the stuff is going to start to happen.
Anyway, we did our traditional stop at Buc-ees and they had some new items on the shelf. My favorite below is a picture about how I feel about Buc-ees!  SEE  LOVE BUCEES! I thought that was interesting.

The other new items are … (12 comments)

KEEP YOUR BUTTS IN THE CAR! - 05/31/11 11:57 AM
On my way to a showing last week, I noticed the vehicle in front of me flick his cigarette out the window.
Now I have an issue with littering, weather it is a paper cup, your lunch bag, or a cigarette butt.  My parents never let us toss anything out the window when we were little; and it is something that I instilled in my children too.
I find littering right up there with picking your nose! If everyone did it how long before the neighborhood would look like a ghetto in a foreign country?
We as Realtors® want the neighborhoods … (11 comments)

Working On The Coal Mine,,,Going, Down, Down, Down. Working On The Coal Mine - 05/30/11 07:40 PM
I check my diary before the weekend started and sure enough I had given myself Sunday and Monday off. So this last bit of the weekend I relaxed enjoyed my family and experienced good times.

Next week is quite packed. With mail outs, contacting past clients, making cold calls. Listed is also a mass e-mail out. Hmmmm see that I have an appointment for a municipality function also. Yes next week is quite packed. I am gonna land like a ton of bricks when bed time rolls around tomorrow and Wednesday. By Thursday, well I ought to have bounced back … (6 comments)

100 HOMES IN MY SUBDIVISION AND YET I AM ALONE. - 05/29/11 08:16 PM
We had new neighbors move in this week. They are across the street and to the left one home. Last night when we came home it was dark; but by their little porch light I could see that they were sitting out enjoying the Tarzan Hot Balmy night air. (yeah just a little sarcastic)
I hollared over to them (because in Texas we hollar or mosey over), "hello folks!"... and they waved back.
It occurred to me that in this subdivision as well as the last ones we lived in; no one ever spoke to one another. Most of my neighbors work … (9 comments)

DO I SMELL BEER ON YOUR BREATH? - 05/28/11 10:23 PM
We went to Surf Side this afternoon to watch the waves come in while the sun set behind us. This is Memorial weekend and I thought there would be way more people out on the beach.
Don't get me wrong there were more than normal. HOWEVER, for every one beach goer there were five police cars....everyone one got to talk to an officer.
Even me. We were parked to close the beach. I thought this was weird because we always park this close to the beach and several police have seen us in the past and nothing was said. We were … (8 comments)

I WILL REMEMBER DR. FRANK - 05/27/11 08:03 PM
Today I got my truck back from Dr. Frank. He is really not a doctor but that is what I call him because he fixes my truck when it is broken.
He has such great customer service skills. When I called him to ask him if I could bring my truck in to have the AC fix he said yes. What he said next stunned me.
"I will meet you at your job and pick up your truck." and true to his word he showed up and picked up my truck and when he was finished fixing it he delivered back … (7 comments)

Leon Redbone - 05/26/11 02:44 PM
One of my favorite musicians is Leon Redbone.

I was looking for his correct spelling of his name so that I could get his music on Pandora Radio Station.
So I Googled him and read his bio on Wikipedia. He is actually just a little older than me being born on August 26, 1949.
He plays incredible Jazz and Blues playing music from the twenties.  He has a great voice as a singer, it's quite gravely at times and I just love that voice.   He can also play the guitar quite well and I think you would be impressed.

ALVIN'S SONIC TO UNDERGO A RENOVATION! - 05/25/11 10:22 PM
The SONIC DRIVE IN located on Gordon Street in Alvin will be closing it's doors May 31st to undergo a total renovation.
The entire building will be demolished to the ground and a new modern SONIC DRIVE IN  will be constructed in it's place.
The new plans show that there will be parking spaces for people who like to drive Dually Trucks a Plus for those drivers. I am told that these parking space will not have a canopy to shield from the sun. BAD-BAD!
I for one will miss the old building but will not miss almost ripping off the … (4 comments)

ALVIN'S JADE GARDEN TO CLOSE DOWN! - 05/24/11 11:15 PM
Many people who live in and around Alvin love to eat at JADE GARDEN located at 2625 South Loop 35.
If you love this resturant you had better hurry up and go eat there because they will be closing down to go on vacation to Hong Kong. They will be close May 31 through July 10th. Now that is a long time to go with out any Chinesse food from Jade Garden!
We went and ordered to go, since we were on the go and he broke the sad news to us. So we will have to eat there at lease one more … (0 comments)

IE-9 AND IT'S NEW SURPRISES! - 05/23/11 03:16 PM
Hello everybody.... just wanted to drop a line or two and tell you what happened.
This last weekend was a doozy...lots of real estate work. The I came home tired and was not thinking straight.
I wanted to make sure I could get my AR posting done so I dragged out my lap top and sat down to watch a little TV and do some typing.
When the lap top booted up it told me DOWN LOAD INTERNET EXPLORER 9  okay so I did....
WRONG WRONG WRONG.
The first thing I noticed was that when I made a comment the … (13 comments)

Paper Back Rider ! Paper Back Rider ! - 05/20/11 10:26 PM
It is now 9:15 p.m. and my day started at 7:30 a.m.
The day should be wrapping up.
But not for Realtors!
I still have a lot of paper work to do before tomorrow.

Just a few lease applications to finish up and send off to the home owner.
I still have to type out a rep agreement for a customer that wants a new home.
(After being discouraged with the lack of rental homes)
I did take time out for supper. The first good meal I have had today.
After making a few comments here on AR I will … (0 comments)

Great Tip On Selling Your House? - 05/17/11 12:59 PM
How about cleaning it? How about keeping it that way so people will consider wanting to buy it? Oh I know there is someone out there that will not care....but that person may not care because he will want to purchase your home at a much lower price than you have it listed for.
This person may be looking for any reason for a low ball offer. If you want the listing price you are going to have to work for it!
Make up the beds in the morning before you leave the house. Make sure the tooth paste is not … (5 comments)

MONDAY, MONDAY CAN'T TRUST THAT DAY.... - 05/16/11 05:35 PM
Mondays... today was extremely special as I got to work on time (6:45 a.m.) and was the fourth person there. It is an unspoken contest as to who gets here first. There is not prize other then the smugness we get to wear. :0)
Lugging in all my stuff I set about getting ready for the day to begin at 7 a.m. I look down and low and behold! The phone indicated that I had quite a few calls to make this morning.

One good highlight in my day is that Dr. Frank came and got my SUV to fix … (8 comments)

36 - 22 - 18 - 49 HUT HUT HUT ! - 05/15/11 08:51 PM
Everything takes TEAM WORK. You may think that it does not, that you and you alone have accomplished what you have.

But I beg to differ. Yes we do a lot of things on our own, but not by ourselves. Someone in your life, someone you know, some greater power has helped you to the place you are today.
Your mom and dad met through a friend = TEAM WORK
Mom and dad got married = TEAM WORK
They conceived you = TEAM WORK
They taught you how to talk, walk, and go potty = TEAM WORK
They sent you … (2 comments)

WILL THAT BE ALL MADAM? - 05/14/11 10:30 AM
Today I woke up to a cold front that came into the area! Yeah! It was 90+ degrees yesterday and so hot, hot, hot!
My SUV's air condition has been on the blink. It cools enough but when it gets into the 90's; ain't no way it is going to work. So I called my SUV Doctor Frank...
He is so good to me...he said no worries,,,he will come pick up my truck from my job on Monday and bring it back when he is finished with it! How is that for curb service...
He makes me feel like I am filthy … (4 comments)

NOT BECAUSE IT WAS FRIDAY THE 13TH - 05/14/11 02:20 AM
Yesterday was Friday the 13th.... I didn't even realize it until late in the afternoon, when someone told me.

I mentioned in a comment I made hours ago that I lost superstition a long time ago. I no longer afraid of any Friday the 13th's anymore. It is just another day. Someone a whole lot bigger than me helped me get over it.
I nolonger throw salt over my left shoulder.

Nor drive the other way if a black cat crosses my path.

My neighbor came over today to discuss real estate. Her home is for sale and … (5 comments)

Friendswood Sushi Bar! - 05/13/11 11:24 PM
Tonight my husband wanted to try a new restaurant so he decided to take me to HABI ASIAN CHEF RESTAURANT located at 307 W. Parkwood, in Friendswood.  They  serve Japanese and Chinese food and have Sushi Bar!

Now I am not much on sushi but many people are.  There were quite a few people at the bar enjoying the sushi.

We took a table and perused the menu and selected what were going to eat. I just want to mention while the food was extremely excellent, I really enjoyed the bowl of fried rice I received.  It was flavored with … (6 comments)

TUX OR CLOWN SUIT ? - 05/12/11 11:08 AM
I have had many opportunities to sit in group pre development meetings in which I met with developers of big box projects, commercial strip centers, small business, new residential subdivisions, and sub dividers of tracts of land or lots.
In most of these the meetings you can tell the professionals (civil and architectural engineers, financiers, etc...) from the entrepreneur or the money guy. These people all wear suits and are mannered, well prepared and very professional.
Occasionally there are Realtors within this group. I have been surprised that on a few occasions some of these Realtors® are very casually dressed, just … (9 comments)

OH SOMETHING SHINY HAS CAUGHT MY EYE - 05/11/11 10:46 PM
No matter what type of business you are in you have to market that business!
No marketing, means no business, which in turn means no money.
I have met a couple of agents who think they can be patient and sit long enough in the office waiting for that one call that will produce a contract. Well that won't work. Newbies you will need many contracts so that you can reach your desired financial goal.
If you don't have a goal which by the way is produced by a marketing plan you will fail as an agent. If you have neither I will advise you … (11 comments)

Women's Council of Realtors Annual Convention - 05/09/11 11:23 PM
Last weekend was a busy weekend with a MCE Class, Mother's Day and appointments.
But by far my favorite thing I did was attend the 20th Annual Women's Council of Realtors.  I had never attended one and I am not a member; but I have got to hand it to them; they really know how to have a great time! There were so many great Realtors there.
They had booths lined up back to back with all sorts of stuff. Take a look at some of the pictures I took.
Here are some bling, bling flip flops!

I love bling bling necklaces!

My Mother Was A Super Hero - 05/08/11 10:41 AM
After reading many great posts about mothers on this Mother's Day, I started to slowly remember all the things my mom did for us, my brothers and sisters.
So listed below are the things my mother did for us that I am thankful for:
She sewed all our clothes because it was cheaper than buying new. (And they were better too) She took in washing and ironing to make ends meet when daddy was at war. She stood strong to two mothers of two unruly much older boys who would torment us girls daily. I was 6 and my      sister was 4. … (8 comments)

HELP MY SMART PHONE IS ACTING STUPID ! - 05/07/11 11:25 AM
I have been having such bad reception from AT&T servicethat I am thinking about changing carriers. I have had my iphone for over a year and my daughter has had hers for about 2 or 3 years.  We are both having problems.
Several people I know that have iPhones are having problems also. Yesterday I needed to use the map icon to get to my destination it never loaded! That was the last straw. I am tired of waiting for AT&T to get their act together.
This is my real estate phone I need to be able to get a hold … (17 comments)

HEAR YE! HEAR YE! **BIG HOUSTON NEWS** - 05/07/11 10:44 AM
With all the BIG NEWS on TV this last week one little story got passed us with little or no notice at all. If you live in the Greater Houston area this is a story of concern to you.
The City of Houston mayor has reported that any cars that break down or run out of gas on Houston Freeways (expressways to you northerners) will now be charging each for each tow; with or without the motorist permission.
The only thing I worry about is the hundreds of dollarseach person will get charged at the storage lots that are usually hundreds … (0 comments)

Hey You Shut The Heck Up! - 05/06/11 09:28 PM
Rose King and I attended an MCE class today and some of the people there exceeded anyone expectations of rudeness.
There was a couple of young ladies at the end of our table who were talking loudly to each other and on their phones. They were so loud that I could not hear the instructor!
I tried my Texas deadman stare and that worked for a few minutes....but it took Rose's teacher "your in deep poo" stare to make them shut up!
Then there was Mrs. I-Have-No-Clue up front who was hard of hearing and had her phone volume at the … (9 comments)

Environmental One - 05/02/11 10:35 AM
What is a Phase One Environmental Study and when would someone need one?
This study is a study for the presence or potential presence of hazardous material such as petroleum products spilled onto the soil or from seepage from structures that are or once were on a property.  Be advised that soil contaminates can also come from groundwater.
Anyone who wants to pay for a Phase Environmental One Study can have one ordered just like a home inspection. Usually, a study of this type can be ordered when one is purchasing undeveloped land. Even though I have never heard of anyone … (1 comments)

STRAWBERRY PIE IN ALVIN TEXAS! - 05/01/11 10:39 PM
Strawberry Pie
Guys I can safely say that I am in love with a new flavor of pie...it is STRAWBERRY PIE. This pie was made from fresh strawberries grown on Froberg's Farm in Alvin. The berries were huge and sweetly delicious.
I had never had strawberry pie; but I told my husband to pick which ever pie he wanted and he got one. My friend, Sherry Wolf's mother, is Alvin's own Pie Lady and she makes a mean pie. She said that this was a new pie she was trying out and said it was really good. My husband was sold. … (6 comments)
