Due to Hurricane Ike, at this time last year in Walden on Lake Houston, we were in the middle of 11 days without power. We were able to heat water for coffee because we still had natural gas power. AND a friend loaned us her french press for coffee. Cooking was a different story because most food had spoiled and the grocery stores had looonnngggg lines (as did the gas stations, my 4 hour wait is another story). We learned to live by flashlight & candles. We glistened a lot (remember in the South ladies don't sweat - they glisten) and depended on … (7 comments)
