We Can Make a Difference - 11/30/11 11:04 AM
We Can Make a Difference

Today I am off to the Tucson Association of REALTORS®, Inc. Luncheon regarding a new Charity Foundation.  We're to learn the mission, purpose, goals and itinerary of this start-up project.  Someone "nominated" me to attend, and I'm not sure if that's just a way to get folks to come or not, but I'm going to check it out.
It's interesting that during this time of year, at least for me, we get to thinking more and more about offering assistance and helping out those that are experiencing hard times.

Your Own Little Slice of Heaven - 11/29/11 10:56 AM
Your Own Little Slice of Heaven

I just spent Thanksgiving weekend in the San Diego - Los Angeles area of California and was thrilled to investigate the different styles of homes for sale in the area.  From the exclusive neighborhoods of Belmont in Santa Monica, CA, to waterfront houses in Oceanside - there's truly something for everyone.  Everyone has their own little slice of heaven to call home.
Back at work this week, I'm about to do a couple of BPOs for a company I work with that will hopefully soon become my listings.  Foreclosed-Upon Homes for sale in Tucson, … (4 comments)

Holiday Celebrating and Food - 11/21/11 12:04 PM
Holiday Celebrating and Food
What can I say – it’s always been a love relationship.  Holidays and food – they go together!  I’m blessed that I’m not 5 feet wide due to my “celebrating”, but I’m glad that I’ve always been more of a taster than a feaster.
Valentine’s Day – It’s been a life routine to make heart-shaped stuffed hamburgers with Italian sauce, pink rice, and red Jell-O for my kids.  I’ve made a few variations over the years, but it’s always rather fun to have the grossest collection of clashing reds and pinks on a plate.

Having a Cotton-Picking Good Time in Marana, AZ - 11/17/11 10:45 AM
Having a Cotton-Picking Good Time in Marana, AZ

Area farmers have been busy the past month getting their cotton picked in Pima County.  Dust is flying, tractors are whirling, and the hay bale columns are going up.

It always begs the question...how many pairs of jeans comes out of a bale of cotton?

I found out that the machine-sized blocks of cotton ( a module) sitting by the roadside is not a "bale".  A "module builder" can hold between 14 and 16 bales. It takes about an acre to make a bale of cotton.

Preconceived Notions About "Discount" Brokerages - 11/09/11 12:01 AM
Preconceived Notions About "Discount" Brokerages
I admit it, there's a little corner in my mind that was worrying when my clients wanted to submit an offer on a REO listing, listed by Help-U-Sell.

I've worked for Tierra Antigua Realty for over 6 years now, and I've been very happy with the rapport, feeling of team, education, and support my brokerage has shown me.  I've worked enough transactions during those years to know that all brokerages are not equal, and not all agents put the same amount of effort into communication and follow-through.
So, like I said, starting out the transaction … (45 comments)

"Orchestrating" Real Estate - It's Music To My Ears! - 11/08/11 10:10 PM
"Orchestrating" Real Estate - It's Music to My Ears!
Not so many years ago I did quite a bit of singing -  I couldn't imagine a time that I wouldn't want to sing - and music was forefront for over 30 years.
Over the past six years, I've found the creative juices needed in Real Estate tend to satisfy many of the same things I that fired me up through music and performance:

Passion and Excitement - there's nothing like pre-performance jitters and then the thrill of applause The first client contact clear through to successful close of escrow.  Talk … (7 comments)

Before and After: The Fun of Working With Investors! - 11/07/11 09:55 AM
Before and After: The Fun of Working With Investors!
I love a project.  There's something about taking things old and messy and turning them into new.  Whether its furniture or landscaping or buying a home - it's just great fun.

Here's a home some clients of mine recently purchased in Central Tucson.
Kitchen before - and kitchen after.

New cabinets, countertops, all appliances, new windows, paint, ceramic tile - they've really made it move in ready.

One of the nice ideas is they opened up the wall between the kitchenette and the living room, but still allowed a … (7 comments)

Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona Down About a Million Pounds! - 11/04/11 02:42 PM
Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona Down About a Million Pounds!
And this is NOT a healthy diet!
The needs of the Southern Arizona Community Food Bank here in Tucson continues to grow, almost doubling now to more than 240,000 men, women and children needing assistance NOW, on a monthly basis.
Of course you know the holidays are coming, and demands grow even larger for help.
The situation has been made worse by fewer donations from the public and area farmers.  Spending reductions by the federal government has also added to the problem.
Here's some of the ways you can help, by … (3 comments)

Tucson Area News Right to My Inbox - 11/01/11 11:14 PM
Tucson Area News Right to My Inbox
One of the things I love about my Twitter account is the ability to classify followers into groups and "study" the tweets on a particular subject that I have classified within my accounts.
I have a Tucson group, with a few AZ and Phoenix-area twitterers thrown in for good measure. I went a step further and incorporated the Tucson-Area AZ group into my own nightly news which is delivered to my inbox. Tonight, in reading my version of Paper.li, I discovered that we are in for big weather change!  (see @JeffBeamish)  Seems our 80-90 degree … (7 comments)
