photography by robert swetz: Vegas Bob stumbled across Bambie at an Open House - 06/18/16 07:36 AM
Vegas Bob was on his way to the free concert on the Boardwalk in Santa Cruz that takes place every Friday from around the 1st week of June all the way into the last week of August.
Anyway the traffic was all backed up on hwy 17 headed into Santa Cruz from Silicon Valley so I took some back roads instead of sitting in traffic forever.
Within the redwoods in Felton California area are beautiful homes nestled in between redwood groves. I saw a open house sign at a home that had a very large lot maybe even some acreage, (several of the homes in Felton … (23 comments)

Quite often when Vegas Bob is reading through comments at the ActiveRain network members will say, you sure get around Vegas Bob and I have to say yes I do!
One of my best friends I have know since I was 5 years old had me look over his son and check in from time to time when he was attending college in Cedar City Utah. So I would drive around hiking and taking photographs at Cedar Breaks, Zion National Park, Kodachrome State Park and several other beautiful parks.

Are we in the 21st Century?

You would think that with all this technology that has come over the last 10-20 years that we would really be more advanced in certain areas.
Like the gasoline powered vehicle, I can't believe their still on the road. With pollution, cost of gasoline and the bad chemicals that come from gasoline it should be banned from the country.
And if you think you having a bad day, take a look at these two character's and lets hope this painting is false and Thank God it's Friday ;o)

photography by robert swetz: Are you ready for Activerain to shut down to fix matinence problem? - 05/20/16 07:58 AM
Well there is a great chance that the Activerain network will be shutting down for several hours so the techies can fix the problem of not being able to upload photos.
I am not really sure when they will be doing this behind the curtain, but in the past they try and do this on Sunday's.
So just a heads-up to everyone and I would suggest getting your blogs out without photos at this time, unless you are one of the lucky ones and it is still working for you.
Thank God it's Friday and have a great weekend ;o)

A Road to the 'Last Frontier' in Palmer Alaska
For anyone that has never had the chance to take a vacation to the 'Last Frontier' you are really missing out.Sure you can watch programs on National Geographic about the 'Last Frontier' and view photos from magazines and or view photographs like these on the blog page. But until you actually view the 'Last Frontier' in person you will never truly know how beautiful Alaska really is.The photo (above) was taken of some farm fields in Palmer with snow cap mountains in the back, with 55 degree temperatures. And the photograph (below) was taken with … (25 comments)

photography by robert swetz: Bright Red Barn in Palmer Alaska - 05/03/16 10:09 AM

Bright Red Barn in Palmer Alaska

Yesterday we spent the day driving around beautiful Palmer Alaska only 50 miles north of Anchorage looking at new homes, acreage and taking photographs.
What I love so much about Palmer Alaska is the HUGE mountain ranges surrounding the very small city which i would call a the town.
Palmer Alaska is like stepping back in time around 60 years with farms everywhere and just and old time Alaska feel.
Here is a beautiful photo I took and later this week I will post more great photos of new homes around Palmer Alaska ;o)

Million Dollar Homes on Bluffs overlooking Anchorage Alaska by Robert Swetz
Robert Vegas Bob Swetz just finished looking at multi-million dollar homes on Potter Creek Road on the bluffs overlooking the Turn Again Arm in Anchorage Alaska.

By looking at only the front side of this home and knowing how much the lot sold for I am going to guess this home after completion should be valued at just over 2 million dollars, give or take a few dollars.

This photo straight above without the home is just a small section of a 190 degree view overlooking the west side of the bluff.

photography by robert swetz: Does anyone know what this creature is? - 04/28/16 11:42 AM
Can anyone tell me the name of this furry creature?
As me and my friend were hiking in Cedar Breaks Utah last year taking in the beauty, we came across this furry creature sunbathing on the rocks, about the size of a small cat.
We were not sure what it was when we first saw  the furry creature, it looked like a badger at first glance. There was a couple standing there looking at it also and we asked, "it that a badger"? They replied no, "That is a ____________". I cannot remember what they called it, but it was a very strange name.

CLOUDS AT ACTIVERAIN (clouds attached) ;o)

I wrote a post about the Clouds Group I founded back in 2008 at the Active Rain network.
I knew that I had taken a video along with this wonderful cloud reflection of Walker Lake in Nevada, so I wanted to share this video along with the photo.
I have photographed hundreds of clouds over the years and taken many videos, but this video and photograph have to be by far my favorite.

Does our Spirit have emotions, feelings & memories after our Earthly body dies?
There are so many questions that arise when people talk about death and our bodies passing on Earth. Some may say our Spirits when we pass have no feelings, emotions, etc when our bodies die.But does our Spirit have memories when we lived on Earth. And what about Spirits that wander the Earth, why are they wandering? And with all the so called answers about what happens with our Spirits when we die, where do all these facts come from. The Bible has many scriptures written about what happens with our Spirit after … (15 comments)

Beautiful Log Home in Sterling Alaska by Robert Swetz
On my drive back to Anchorage from Homer Alaska Monday afternoon I came across this breath-taking log home in Sterling AK.

I have viewed hundreds of log homes through out my life and this one located in Serling Alaska only 10 - 15 miles north of Soldotna has to be one of the most impressive. I have seen bigger log homes but not ones that have as much character as this one that has carved Eagle Heads at the corners of the roof.

What a Beautiful World we live in 4-16-2016

Here is a wonderful photograph that I took at Hearst Castle in California several years ago with a Nikon D-90 and a wide angle lens.
Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder and not all beauty comes from nature. The architecture inside and out of the Hearst Castle is amazing and I have been there many times taking photographs and videos.

Portage Lake Alaska Icebergs by Robert Swetz 4-5-2016
Here are some great photographs that I took while visiting Portage Lake located approx. 58 miles southeast of Anchorage Alaska. It's not everyday that these icebergs are floating in Portage Lake and the icebergs forever change in shape and size as they melt.
After taking these photograph Robert Swetz and friends went on a 6 mile hike round trip to Byron Glacier Trail which actually where these icebergs came from.  Portage Lake is located in the Prince William Sound area and the next time you visit Anchorage Alaska, make sure to visit Portage Lake. And take the short hike up the Byron Glacier Trail.

Easter Sunday 3-27-2016

With Easter coming soon I just wanted to touch base with all my friends & associates at the ActiveRain network.

I would like to personally wish everyone a wonderful Easter filled with Love, Joy, Kindness, Patience, Peace and more.

With all the commercialism of Easter lets please not forget the true meaning of celebration which would be the Resurrection of 'Jesus Christ' ...
