utah: "Good Night' from (Arches National Park) in Utah - 02/23/11 05:09 PM

Photograph by Robert Swetz 2-23-2011
This is my first visit to Arches National Park and all I can say is what a visit, this place is a (Photographers Dream). I have seen places around the South West that are similar but not as intense as Arches National Park.
There are 3 other major parks within minutes of Arches so I will be here for several days. If you have never been to Arches National Park in Moab Utah I would definitely put this one in your "Bucket List".

Beautiful Zion National Park in Utah (Photos Attached)
I spent around 3 hours hiking around Zion National Park Sunday 1-23-2011 taking photographs & videos. Zion National Park is one of the most beautiful parks in Utah located around 30 minutes south of St George, and less than 3 hours from Las Vegas Nevada.
I shot around 200 photographs and 30 minutes of video that I will be sharing a few days next week, so stay tuned!

utah: Posting to the Activerain Community vs (Localism) - 07/07/09 11:22 AM
Posting to the Activerain Community vs (Localism)
For the last twelve months around 50% of my blogs are posted to (Localism) because I travel so much and I photograph the cities I travel in. The other 50% of my blogs are posted to the Activerain Community.
What is your opinion on posting to the Activerain Community vs (Localism)?
Do you know if (Localism) is only visible to people who are in that area?  Or do you have to add a specific tag for this?
And do posts to Localism ever get featured?
I have found that even when I post a blog … (14 comments)

utah: Beautiful Cedar City - Utah - Growing Pains - 12/23/08 03:04 PM

Beautiful Cedar City Utah has been having some growing pains.
This very small city just East 45 miles East of St George Utah and 60 miles East of the Nevada State Border and only 127 miles from Las Vegas Nevada has been growing up some.
With higher elevations, many people have grown to love the lower temperature climates verses the hot desert temps that are usually over 100 degrees 6 months out of the year.
Many people from Las Vegas ski through the winter months instead of taking the 5 hour drive to Salt Lake City.
 The reason I blog … (4 comments)

Beautiful Cedar City - Utah - by: Robert Swetz
While a friend of mine was working on my car in Cedar City Utah, me and my wife took his 4x4 on a winding road very close to Cedar City.
If you look real close at this photo, you can see a small area of homes on the bottom left hand corner. That is part of Cedar City, Utah.

In the photo above there are some very big expensive homes with beautiful views of the Cedar City Valley.

In the photograph above we ran into some snow that very … (6 comments)

utah: Beautiful Lake with very unusual colored sand - by Robert Swetz - 11/11/08 10:48 AM

Beautiful Lake with very unusual colored sand - by Robert Swetz
This has to be some of the strangest colored sand I have ever seen, I did not change the color on this beautiful pic shot just out of Hurricane Utah.
The water in the lake is spring water from the mountains and it is crystal clear with trout and other fish swimming around.
If you wade around the shore line the sand around the whole lake is this color, only a little darker when it's wet.

utah: Have a bright and prosperous week! - 11/10/08 06:54 AM

Have a bright and prosperous week!
Another month and a half and the year of 2008 will be over. And we will be coming into a New Year and the market will swing around some.
The reason that I am posting the blog is because the year of 2008 has been very difficult for some people, and I wanted to try to enlighten them a little with this wonderful photograph just few miles west of Hurricane, Utah.
Let's try to keep our chins up as we come into a New Year, and Jan-Feb may be a little slow. But come … (18 comments)

Please bring back Politics & the Election!
Now that the election is over are we back to talking about Short sales, foreclosures, REOS, etc?
 Boring, boring, boring!
Agents and members at Active Rain are going to have to find something new to talk about, like widgets, URLs, and other web stuff we can attach to our Profile & Blog page to slow it down when other members try to open them.
What is going to be the new niche for blogging?
How the economy is going to pick up like nothing every happened, please give me a break.

utah: Breath - Taking Clouds in Utah by: Robert Swetz - 10/24/08 06:34 AM

I have been sitting on the beautiful Breath - Taking shot of Clouds in Hurricane Utah and I just had to get it out to my family and friends at Active Rain.
This was taken on a warm Sunday 10-7-2008 and the Clouds in the photograph seem to jump out at you and over power the photograph.
This photograph would make a great picture to blow up to a 11x144, frame and hang on the wall.
Remember everyone, have a wonderful safe-weekend and enjoy some time with your families.

Good morning members and non-members of Active Rain and Happy Friday.
What is so Happy about today, well you try to decide why you would like it to Happy.
For me, when I look at this photograph that I took in Utah 2 weeks ago and how beautiful the colors are and the Happy feeling that I felt when I was there, it makes me Happy.
Try to imagine the feeling that you would feel if you were sitting on cliff looking at this beautiful site? And the thousands of years that the waters have been cutting through these rocks … (13 comments)

utah: GOLF ANYONE? by Robert Swetz - 10/15/08 03:27 AM

11th Hole - photo taken by Robert Swetz
This has to be one of the most different and beautiful Golf Courses I have ever seen.
Just 7 miles south west of Hurricane Utah is this Golf Course in the middle of these mountains with colors of bright red, greens, and other mineral deposits colors.
It is a eighteen hole Golf Course and to get to the greens you take Golf Carts down these winding roads and zig-zag back and forth to get to the next hole.
As you can see by this photo below, you drive off of this cliff … (12 comments)

utah: Beautiful Snow fall in Cedar City Utah by: Robert Swetz - 10/12/08 08:11 PM

On my visit to Cedar City Utah and other areas in South West Utah we came across some snow on Saturday and Sunday.
The snow was coming down at different times Saturday afternoon and then in the evening. I knew that Sunday morning would be a great time to drive towards the mountain, Brian's Head - Cedar City where many people from Las Vegas going skying, because of the large amounts of snow fall.
And I was right, we drove up 3 miles up the road out of Cedar City and I shot these wonderful photographs of the snow and … (21 comments)

utah: CAN ANYONE TELL ME THE NAME OF THIS FURRY CREATURE? - 07/25/08 04:20 AM
Can anyone tell me the name of this furry creature?
As me and my friend were hiking in Cedar Breaks Utah last year taking in the beauty, we came across this furry creature sunbathing on the rocks, about the size of a small cat.
We were not sure what it was when we first saw  the furry creature, it looked like a badger at first glance. There was a couple standing there looking at it also and we asked, "it that a badger"? They replied no, "That is a ____________". I cannot remember what they called it, but it was a very strange name.

utah: MUST SEE PHOTO OF CEDAR BREAKS NATIONAL PARK UTAH - 07/23/08 11:42 AM
I wanted to send another post with a photograph of Utah, seeing as members didn't find God's humor in my last blog.
I took this photograph around Cedar Breaks in the Southwest area of Utah, the colors are breathtaking. Being there and seeing this view is much different than taking a photo, with a photo you miss so much and the colors are not as vivid.
This area in Utah is part of the beginning of The Grand Canyon that starts in Utah and runs all the way into Arizona. I would have to say of all the Sates in America, … (5 comments)
