We just got back from putting 137 miles on the buyer mobile showing country properties in our rural counties. No wonder I have so many photos of cow, farms, fields and fences.
We have yet to have frost and the autumn foliage is some of the best I have seen ....probably because it has rained since September 1 ......or seems so. We seldom have snow by Thanksgiving BUT it is snowing now...the first October snow in our memories.

If you are a fan of farm and country photographs, we are starting to collect our best ones at "Just off the road" :Virginia farms and land.
We are trying to be very selective in what we put up there...as our daughter says....."they should be frame-able"....that is the goal I'm striving for. Hmmm...maybe I will just let our children pick them...
New photos should appear a couple times per week.
Our plan is to start individual websites for the counties we travel through, trying to capture the best of Northern Virginia's rural heritage.

Not many days ago, Ohio Realtor friends Bill and Liz Spear commented on one of my cow photos.....that most folks do not consider Northern Virginia as a land of farms and cattle.
That is true. In a radius of 20 miles of Washington DC, we are a ring of suburbia.
Virginia has the highest per capita high tech job ratio in the nation yet in 40 non rush hour minutes from almost anywhere, you can be enjoying scenes like this.
We can be in the country, 15 minutes from where we live.

If you visit the Washington DC/Northern Virginia area, head out 4 lane route 66 to take in Skyline Drive National Park, BUT come on back route 55 which more or less parallels 66 for Virginia scenes like this.
Take the side roads and see one of the oldest states in the union.
Virginia has more high tech jobs per capita than any other state in the country BUT the majority of our commonwealth still looks like this.

The following photo tour was taken in the Northern Outer Banks area of Corolla Light.
This is one of our favorite family vacation spots. The houses are huge and designed to be rented by extended families or lots of friends. We usually go with 7-10 people with friends and family wandering in and out for a couple days as their schedules permit.
