No.....sorry......there is no easy money to be made around here at trustee sales. It was sleeting sideways yesterday morning on the Fairfax County courthouse steps....tough to keep your papers or laptop dry. Yes, there are 4 laptops cradled against the elements....A crowd of about 20 regulars huddled for warmth with a few wide eyed soon to be disappointed new comers. If you have heard that gazillions of dollars can be made by purchasing properties on the courthouse steps for pennies on the dollar....well....right now it is very tough to do in Northern Virginia. It was another freezing day at the county courthouse, standing outside to bid at the trustee sale of properties that have defaulted on their mortgages(foreclosure sales) 12 properties were on the original docket....4 had been removed from the sale for unknown reasons (they could have been cured at the last moment or bankruptcy could have stalled the process) No one there is gleeful about the opportunity...we all know that people's lives have been damaged by the time a home gets here. There is a general quiet comradery among the regulars, with information sharing and fact clarification...you might expect the atmosphere … (2 comments)
Tom: I was headed home to Greenbriar and cut through the Fairfax County courthouse complex just for grins, and saw folks gathering in a huddle on the landing at the top of the courthouse steps. Is that where they have the foreclosure auctions? Steve: Yes Tom, believe it or not, no matter what the weather the sales will happen.... and it was nasty cold today.
