In the Williamsburg area, we have two types of open houses, broker opens and public open houses. Broker open houses are held on a weekday; lunch or snacks are often served and sometimes a gift card is offered. In this area, brokers open houses can be a great networking event despite the fact that the purpose is to give the house exposure to agents who may have a buyer.

I have a question for you: Can a REALTOR® sell a Williamsburg Va home at an open house? If your REALTOR® says that open houses are for the agent and not the home owner, I can tell you that is not true for all REALTORS®. I once sold a house to the first couple that came through an open house that I held for one of my sellers.

I have hosted dozens of open houses during my real estate career. Until just recently, I viewed open houses as a major waste of my time as I had never sold a house as a result of holding it open, nor had I ever received a client from an open house.
My attitude greatly changed last summer. One Saturday in late June I was placing signs for an open house that I had recently listed.
