If anyone followed the Louisina and Mississippi real estate markets after Hurrican Katrina, you'd know that there was a huge boom in values in those regions. Over 850,000 properties were destroyed during the Hurricans, and the federal government pumped in billions of dollars in the recovery effort.

The fires in California have been compared to be as devastating as Hurricane Katrina by our local news station. I cannot fathom what the actual outcome will be considering it's nowhere near under control and the numbers are rising. 
Not too many economic reports scheduled for release today, Stocks will likely continue their role in leading Bond prices. The reports on the fires have taken over most headlines as they should. 
October in Southern California can be very dangerous. Last year, on October 26th the Esperanza Fire raged through Cabazon and the communities of Poppet Flats and Twin Pines killing 5 Firefighters. Today just a few days before the 1st anniversary of that Fire, Malibu is on Fire.
