1. Find a purpose. 
Stairways are an easy way to add to your home's atmosphere. Using family pictures or momentos wreaths, garlands...an array of items. Use the same techniques for mantles or around windows & doorways.
I got involved in a discussion on another blog, about the differences between a home being "staged" or "decorated". I brought up the difference after the blog was written (for the public), about a "decorated" home ready to sell.
