family ties: "Sing me a Song" - 03/16/08 11:44 PM
Today is St. Patrick's Day. Given that my father had nothing but Irish blood in him, despite being a few generations deep here in the United States, St. Patrick's Day was a celebratory time. Always a singer, his Irish songs started creeping in and repeating probably right after Valentine's Day. (There were a bunch

family ties: Moving Mom - A Special Challenge - 02/25/08 08:00 AM
Did you miss me on Saturday? You couldn't find me on Active Rain because I was helping my mother move across the hall from a studio unit to a one-bedroom apartment in the Assisted Living facility where she resides now. Actually, one of my brothers did all the heavy lifting on Firday - I just helped the

Well the first thing I like to do to prepare for a post is come up with a theme! So

I am writing this post for one main reason...just to post to 'the family ties' group! I commented to Jason Crouch on his weekly summary that there is simply nothing better than family! Now don't get me wrong, with 7 of us under one roof, we are not exempt from the challenges

family ties: I’m trying to help my kids understand me! - 01/31/08 12:34 AM
OK, I have a weird sense of humor and it comes out from time to time in my posts, but my kids have to live withthis and a lot of times they just don't get dad's jokes to mom. So I've started to make a DVD, not to warp them, but hopefully

family ties: Who Remembers RAWHIDE and GUNSMOKE and PONDEROSA??? - 12/29/07 03:26 PM
Over the holidays there hasn't been much on TV. Normally this would not be a problem but my husband has been off from work the entire month and watching TV and playing golf are his hobbies. This is the time of the year for reruns. So what has he been watching? All the

family ties: What makes a man a real man? Lessons from my Grandpa - 09/25/07 12:03 AM
My grandfather passed away in 1999, and I still miss him. He was 93 when he died, so there was no doubt that he lived a "full life", as people like to say. Simply put, he was one of the greatest men that I have ever known.
This is a

family ties: "Family Ties" on "24" - 01/31/07 02:00 AM
This week we enjoyed becoming better acquainted with the Bauer Bunch. There's Father Phillip, the Grand Patriarch and President of yet another less-than-reputable, bungling government contractor. Seriously, even the Domino's delivery boy could've done a better job of getting the nukes to the right place! And of course, there's Brother's Grimm "Graem"
