Literally 5 minutes ago on NBC Nightly News, they said an average of 10 major cities saw a decline in home prices of 11.4% from 1/07 to 1/08, and down 2.3% from 12/07 to 1/08. Then they said that the data is showing that the decline in home prices is accelerating.

According to an article by Wayne Faulkner published today (Feb 26,2008) from http://www.starnewsonline.com/, the Wilmington area housing market is doing good. In January 2008 three and a half times more homes went under contract than had in January 2007.
According to the Wall Street Journal, "If you own a home in a former bubble region like California or southern Florida, there's bad news... and really bad news."
For 2007, Howard County saw the number of homes sold decrease from 4057 to 3467 (a 14.54% decrease), with a .58% increase in average price, from $453,751 to $456,372. I just heard about a recent study completed by Cornell University, regarding the pricing of listings... and the perception of potential buyers. Austin continues to be on all the top economists' Top 10 Best Performing markets in the country. The Standard & Poor's/Case Shiller Index was released Tuesday, January 29th, showing an 8.4% drop in real estate prices in November, 2007 from November 2006. Case Shiller is a highly reported index that is alleged to be more accurate than the statistics provided by the Realtor associations.
Prices of homes in Harford County Maryland seem to have settled, the average price of house is currently around $300,000 according to county statistics, and there are plenty of homes available with prices far below that mark. 
Please keep in mind that it's the first month of a new year, so the year-to-date numbers may be quite variable compared to last month.
