What are Googel Alerts? Google Alerts are a tool provided by Google to allow users to find out when a particular subject matter has been "picked up" by Google.
From my, admittedly, limited understanding of SEO (most of which I learned here on AR) I think Re-Blog It is a great idea - provided there are some limitations, and protections for the original blog author:

Okay, it finally happened...I was plagiarized. 
On the topic of crooks, I have noticed that certain Web sites, one of which is realestatepick.com, has been swiping blogs from Active Rain and posting them online. They do this because they receive revenue from selling advertising on their site.

I am struggling with the duplicate content issue. Would I be penalized by Google and other search engines if I were to republish writings from ActiveRain to my website or other blog and vice versa?
