Do you know how much money you or your brokerage is spending on print advertising? A better question might be; do you know what the return is on the money that is spent on print advertising? I figure the Active Rain community no doubt has some strong opinions around this. Below

Hi Everyone,
Of course I am a huge fan of the Orange County Regsiter for my local news, however, being from the East Coast I gotta have my New York Times along with my Wall Street Journal.
I always seem to get inspired by that paper from a business perspective and

print advertising: The Real Estate Book - 05/02/08 01:39 PM
We can all agree that print advertising is not nearly as effective as it once was. The Internet far surpasses print ads in effectiveness. Print advertising can still be useful though if done intelligently. Every month I do a full page ad in the The Real Estate Book. Why? Because it

print advertising: 100 overused marketing words and phrases - 03/11/08 01:31 PM
Let’s rid the world of bad ad copy. I was having breakfast with a client a while back and he brought to my attention an article in Business Week entitled: Five Words to Never Use in an Ad. Back at my office, I found it online and read it.

print advertising: Marketing: Don’t be a turkey and play follow the leader - 03/07/08 07:55 PM
What makes you think your competition’s marketing is working for them? I talk to clients often about monitoring the competition. They clip out newspaper ads and keep direct mail pieces of the ads that their competitors are doing. However, one of the biggest mistakes people make is advertising in publications just

print advertising: Internet Representation Doesn't Replace Human Contact with a Skilled Realtor - 01/29/08 12:38 PM
While I am not a big fan of Redfin, this article was very interesting Despite Housing Slide, Real Estate Sites Sell. It really demonstrates that real estate consumers are moving further away from print advertising and have embraced the internet. The internet offers convenience and more information. However, the thought of

print advertising: Build Equity in Your Brand - 01/03/08 03:39 PM
As published in Scotsman Guide's Residential Edition by Chadd SJ Ciccarelli, January 2008. Have you ever wondered why a national coffee chain can charge more for a cup of coffee than a local doughnut shop -- even when they are selling the same coffee? It's because of brand equity. Brand equity

print advertising: Get More People To Notice Your Advertising - 12/27/07 10:00 PM
HEADLINES are one of your biggest weapons for getting MORE PEOPLE TO NOTICE YOUR ADVERTISING, for whatever medium you choose to use. Now you are using headlines, aren't you? And NOT your logo - that's not a headline. Only one person cares about your logo, AND THAT'S YOU. Whereas a headline

print advertising: We haven't seen an offer ... should we advertise in California? - 11/08/07 09:25 AM
We've heard this question many times over the years and our answer is still NO with much more emphasis. We have advertised in the L.A. Times, San Jose Mercury, Portland Oregonian, Sacramento Bee, Seattle Times, etc. over the years with the same results - it is very expensive and yields zero

print advertising: Print and TV/Radio Ads...yes or no--Maybe!! - 10/20/07 03:24 PM
Newspaper, Real Estate Mags, TV/Radio spots are still a relatively strong advertising force in the S Hampton Roads area of Va (Virginia beach, Chesapeake, Suffolk, Norfolk, Portsmouth) primarily because Sellers still want to see their home advertised in these publications. It's certainly not because of specific results/leads generated, as the internet has become the primary "go to"
