wallpaper: Cheap Wallpaper Remover - 09/06/08 06:13 PM
Here is a low cost way of removing wallpaper instead of buying those expensive wallpaper removers. I remodeled a kitchen last winter and it worked great. I used car windshield washer fluid. As with any wallpaper remover, you will need to score the paper with a wallpaper score tool. This pokes

wallpaper: Are FHA Loans Like Hanging Wallpaper? - 09/05/08 10:29 AM
FHA simpler than hanging wallpaper! check is out!
I actually tried this. I was redoing our bathroom and installing a simple border. The roll was rather long, and so I cut it down to sections and hoped I might be able to blend in the edges.

wallpaper: Marketing .....Plain and simple, Loud and Garish, or in-between? - 09/04/08 08:13 PM
Generational marketing.....we know about texting (look at the current Political Scene), we know about Blackberry's and the Apple iPHONE. We also know that when the "Boomer" Generation was younger a whole lot of us didn't wear glasses, liked loud music, and our tastes were different. So, how does that relate to Marketing,

wallpaper: Just because it's wallpaper doesn't mean it's for all walls - 09/03/08 02:04 AM
Generally—actually, always!—using wallpaper in the shower to cover up cracked tiles, deteriorated grouting, or mildew growing in the grouting is not appropriate.
Since I have never been a wallpaper fan, and just to make sure, I stopped by my local Home Depot after this inspection to read the manufacturer's instructions

Recently, Tori Lynn Ross posted a blog titled, "Grout Recolorant To The Rescue!" and it got me thinking about some of the things I have done to update. Get rid of dated wallpaper, of course:

wallpaper: That is just plain rude! Don't pull on the wallpaper! - 08/15/08 07:46 AM
Don't strip the paper. I finally received a good REO property. The house had been lived in by the same family for years. Husband died and the wife had to move to something smaller and cheaper. Walking through it, I realized it was dated and needed cosmetic repairs but it cranked

wallpaper: Changing Out Wallpaper Borders - 07/25/08 09:34 AM
Man, I absolutely HATE wallpaper, and I hate wallpaper borders even more. And that made it very ironic that I found myself having to pick out new wallpaper border for our kitchen. My husband LOVES the current wallpaper because it looks like a faux finish. We have such an open floorplan

wallpaper: Paint Your Home Before You Sell It - 06/30/08 09:06 AM
Usually all sellers think the paint or wallpaper on their walls is the perfect color or look. But most buyers will not. Not everyone likes the colors barn red or mauve or even coconut husk on interior walls. But there are some basic colors everyone can agree on; white and off

wallpaper: Wallpaper is a Serious Speed Bump When Selling Your House - 06/24/08 09:53 AM
Buyers want to walk into a listed property and say “Wow, I could move right in to this house.” These are magic words for agents who are anxiously waiting to hear if this is the house, or not. So many things can be right about the property: location, price, curb

I collect 1930's and 1940's issues of American Home and also Better Homes and Gardens. Every once in a while I like to reread them. Today I was reading an article about something that sounded suspiciously like curb appeal. The article went on to say that they way your house looks from

Despute the popularity of HGTV programs showing us all how to update a home, a lot of homeowners don't realize how important it is to update periodically. By that I mean, look at the home critically every 10 years or sooner. Colors & popular features come & go. What was appealing 15 years ago, may
