Effective June 25th, 2008. Fannie Mae, in their Announcement 08-16, ( https://www.efanniemae.com/sf/guides/ssg/annltrs/pdf/2008/0816.pdf ) has clearly indicated their preference for homeowners to do Short Sales rather than giving a Deed-in-lieu of Foreclosure or simply allowing the house to go to foreclosure.
