real estate: When will Real Estate Brokers stop being "Control Freaks"?! - 02/29/08 10:55 AM
When will Real Estate Brokers stop being "Control Freaks"?!
Yesterday we started a new campaign through our in house Marketing dept. we called it "Agent 24/7" because of our affiliation with Prudential Real Estate and their national campaign surrounding Yahoo. Really, it's our way of highlighting our Agents successes using the Internet, and our Web 2.0 tools and approach. We simply provide a spot in our print ads with local newspapers for a photo, contact info, and a quick "testimonial" by the Agent regarding the tools we provide as a Brokerage.
Then it hit me, after reading the first testimonial by … (2 comments)

real estate: Real Estate & The Media - What's Their Problem?! - 02/28/08 08:27 AM
Seems like I can't enjoy a good cup of coffee anymore. Every day I am inundated by the negative spin on everything, but in particular the state of the economy and how Real Estate is to blame! Today was no exception. Our local bastion of goodwill, The Modesto Bee (McClatchy Newspapers) pasted all over the Business section more CRAP about Real Estate being in a tailspin and the economy being way down, bla bla bla CRAP! I hesitate to even give you readers this link, because it will just increase numbers on a website, I wish would go away, but you … (3 comments)

real estate: Freedom "expression & search" in Real Estate - 02/25/08 04:29 AM
Freedom "expression & search" in Real EstateCourtesy of BloodHoundBlog comes this Video by David Byrne (of Talking Heads fame). It's Titled "Don't Fence me in" and through it's use of familiar faces and complete strangers, becomes an entertaining lesson on the "Freedoms" we possess as Americans and how they can relate to our favorite subject: Real Estate. As RE Bloggers we are guided by morals, values, honesty, and to a certain degree the unwritten rules many of the mainstream press reporters follow. Here David reminds us that an unsuppressed, uncontrolled, and uninhibited mind will lead to meaningful and relative idea exchange.OK, so … (1 comments)

real estate: The C.A.R. and Short Sales - Need help? - 02/20/08 07:15 AM
In today's real estate market terms like Short Sale, Foreclosure, REO, & BPO run ramped. It is easy for the consumer to get confused, frustrated, or even down right angry. Now more than ever, it is vital to align yourself with a knowledgeable Realtor who has taken the time to educate themselves on all the nuances involved in these process's. I read a nice article today out of Realty Times that brings attention to the C.A.R.'s recent addendum regarding Short Sales, I though I would share it with you.

real estate: Beware of Credit Scam! Yes, it affects Real Estate too! - 01/17/08 04:28 AM
Taking excerpts from an Inman News Story, Wednesday, January 16, 2008 By Ilyce R. Glink; Every day, thousands of people type the words "credit repair", "bad credit" or "bad credit repair" into an Internet search engine in an attempt to find some help. Only problem is some of the Web sites that come up in a search like that can do more harm than good. The typical credit repair scam works in one of a couple of different ways; 1) The promise that your credit history will be wiped clean, or 2) The credit repair organization will tell you that you'll … (1 comments)

real estate: "25 Things You Must Do to Web 2.0 Your Company"? Shame on you Inman TV - 01/15/08 05:57 AM
Forgive me fellow Bloggers, it has been 12 days since my last Blog.Today I was "Dooped" into watching a 46 minute video by Inman TV titled "25 Things You Must Do to Web 2.0 Your Company". I, like many of you, am fascinated by web 2.0 as it applies to Real Estate and my company in particular. So when I see a title like that, from a respected company like Inman, I am enticed to view it.This time however, I wasted 44 min. For you see, there was but 2 min of usable content. Of which, only Kevin Boer of 3 … (4 comments)

real estate: How much of an "Expert" do you want to be? - 01/02/08 09:31 AM
Today I sent out an email to all my Agents (about 300) drawing their attention to a post in Sellsius Titled "EPA Maps Show Environmental Hazards in Your Area"When I suggested that this would be a great addition to any Agent's website, I received a few comments to the affect that..."We should leave this type of info up to the NHD's, since it is there specialty, to avoid facing possible litigation". Like to hear the Blogging communities thoughts?? The Coach

real estate: Central Valley Real Estate in 2008 - 12/21/07 03:07 AM
You know, I wasn't sure how I wanted to "package" this post until I was driving into work today. My radio was set to an FM station that was programmed for 24/7 Xmas music. So there I was in the middle of Frosty, Rudolph, Santa, and the bunch.
I heard "Frosty the Snowman" 3 times, Once by Willie Nelson (My favorite of the 3), Frank Sinatra, and Nick Lachey. Talk about a "Wide" range of deliveries! Yet no matter who sang the song, or what rendition they chose, I found myself singing along.
So what does this have to do with Central … (0 comments)

real estate: Who's your customer? - yeah, but what about 5 yrs from now??? - 12/20/07 07:57 AM
A piece in Tech Crunch today, referencing Pew Internet & American Life  Project's survey, entitled "Teens and Social Media, was in all likelihood one of the current definitive pieces on the behavior of Gen "Y" on-line. It is a look at the future, and should be required reading by any Agent who intends to be doing business beyond 2010. It reinforces the belief of so many of us, that our kids and grandkids will be buying & selling their houses on-line. This is a culture to them, they are fully prepared to do it. Read it, or stick your head back … (0 comments)

real estate: The State of Ca. Central Valley Real Estate - 12/19/07 05:46 AM
Glass half empty - Sales are down, revenue is down, the market is dead, bla bla bla.
Glass half full - There has never been a better opportunity for 1st time home buyers, there is an abundance of great deals out there, and one of my favorites; Now we can purge the "Dead Wood" out there.
Meaning Real Estate Agents who have taken this industry far too lightly. During the "good old days" many untrained, "short termers" came in and scooped up part of the pie. They lacked the education and commitment exemplified by so many of you out there now, left to … (1 comments)

real estate: What are we afraid of? - 12/17/07 04:40 AM
I remember my first day of "real" school, 1st grade! Man was I scared. It would be my first full day away from my Mommy ever! I would be surrounded by all the "uncertainty" all the "Strangeness" and even some genuine "Dumbness". How would I ever survive???yet not only did I survive, but I flourished. I learned more than I ever thought possible, and in that knowledge came success and an inner power that I never could have imagined. Adulthood, Freedom, understanding, communication, etc...So why not take these same principles of overcoming fears into your entrance to "Internet Real Estate"? tell … (2 comments)
