How My Soccer Kids Are Like Some Home Sellers! - 09/30/08 08:57 AM
This will be my 4th year volunteering to coach young soccer kids. After a few weeks of practice, I came to the conclusion that working with soccer kids can be a lot like working with home sellers. Here are a few reasons why: 1) Although they want your direction, advice and "coaching" - they already know everything - you are just there to provide the venue for them to do what they want. 2) All your proven plans for success usually get challenged with a simple statement: "But I wanted to do this instead...." 3) Most of the time, you are wondering if they are listening to you.

Go Ahead - SPIN YOUR WHEELS! - 09/25/08 01:59 PM
I have the nicest client that I am working with right now. Her name is Jenn. Last night, I emailed her a listing that she wanted to see right away. After we agreed to meet, she mentioned that she planned to ride her bicycle to the house - for several reasons: reducing her carbon footprint on earth, it would slow her down enough to look at the neighborhood and she would get some exercise. I had a listing that was on the market for a while. Here is what the Seller did so it wouldn't sell - but, with some luck, it ended up selling for the same reasons: 1) The Seller's mom lived in the house - and frequently called Realtors who showed the home to get feedback - saying things she probably shouldn't have. 2) The Seller said "NO REPAIRS" and stuck to it! 3) The Seller was stubborn, had a bottom line and wasn't too flexible because there was no urgency to sell and even less of a "need to sell". 4) The Seller did not accept nor work with the first two (4 comments)
One of us is not as good as all of us together. - 09/15/08 01:49 PM
This will be my first post on Active Rain and after reading the blogging rules and some other posts, it gave me another rule to remind myself of as I join all of you - and that is: I am only as good as all of us together. I was "burned" by a fellow Realtor a few months ago. My Story. Great clients. Found them a house of their dreams after looking for weeks. They go to their lender for an updated LSR - we plan to meet at the office in "an hour" to sign the contract. The clients never show and never return (2 comments)
