The story is all too familiar today.  I went on a listing appointment, the male seller is disabled and the female was temporarily off work from surgery.  They were able to keep up on their payments but it was getting tight.  So, they refinanced to help out in a pinch.  Now we fast forward a few months, the second installment of the real estate taxes are due and they go on the last day to make the payment.  The mortgage company already paid the taxes they are told.  Now the mortgage company pays the insurance.  Their payment skyrockets and they can't … (3 comments)

I have had a showing scheduled for a week on one of my listings.  The seller even asked me yesterday if I knew which agent was showing it.  I get a call from the buyer's agent - "Hello Tammy, we're at the showing and there are dogs barking and we're not going in".  "OK, I'll be right there, please wait".  Showings are golden and I didn't want to lose it.  While in route to the house I called my seller and explained the situation.  She says "They won't bite, they're just babies but they might go the bathroom".  Then she proceeds to … (8 comments)

Earth Day is Today
Unless you have been asleep for several days you know that today is Earth Day.  Earth Day is a day dedicated to the environmental health of our planet.  In 1990 Earth Day became an international event on April 22.  If you are anything like me I would see the Earth Day articles and news clips and they would go in one ear and out the other.  For some reason this year I have waken up and taken notice.

Insurance angents and Earthquake Insurance - 04/18/08 12:16 PM
If you read my blog this morning, I was talking about the earthquake in Illinois.  I am working on getting a new construction closed today and need the insurance policy to close.  The agents secretary told the lender that he had over 50 voice messages this morning before he even got to the office with inquiries about if they have earthquake insurance!  I guess it's probably a good day for insurance sales!  … (0 comments)

A lot of shaking going on in the Midwest! - 04/18/08 08:40 AM
At 4:37 a.m this morning there was an earthquake that measured 5.2 centered in New Salem, IL.  I realize that may seem small to some of you on the West Coast but here in the midwest it's pretty big.  I woke up feeling my house shaking and and didn't really  realize what was going on.  When I finally got up this morning, I got on the internet right away and sure enough it was an earthquake.  The news says it was felt across several states.  There doesn't appear to be much damage.  I guess across this wonderful country of ours we all … (6 comments)

I am keeping focused and positive about the market this spring/summer!  As the weather is getting warmer here in Illinois we are seeing more buyers out and about.  I am ready for and am expecting a great year.  Interest rates are still wonderful, there are a lot of homes to choose and the time is right.  I think we need to fight back on all the negative press and see the glass as half full instead of half empty.  Keep positive and it will happen!  … (0 comments)
