The bedrock of the residential real estate industry is the American Dream of owning your own home. Current market conditions have amplified another motivator: those looking for great investment opportunities. There have always been professional “Flippers” in the market but today shrewd buyers recognize that the current market conditions offer some outstanding investment opportunities in Lewiston-Auburn and Kennebec County. It’s not just professional investors considering foreclosures; many first time buyers and existing homeowners are looking for unusual bargains. The appeal is understandable due to some commonsense consequences caused by the mortgage meltdown (and the headlines that followed). When banks come (0 comments)
January 2012 Real Estate Market Update The median sale price for homes sold in Kennebec County Maine, or the Capital City area, held their own last year despite a slight statewide dip. While the number of homes sold in Kennebec country decreased over the prior year, I’m personally finding that the market seems to have picked up the last couple of months … during a period when both buyers and sellers tend to go dormant for the holidays. It’s been the opposite in my personal business. It seems like a lot of those buyers that have been looking for months, (0 comments)
What the heck are these?!? They are QR (Quick Response) codes and they allow people with camera-enabled smartphones or iPads to scan the QR code into their device bringing them directly to a web page optimized for mobile devices. Sometimes these QR codes will link to a video or connect to e-mail or instant messaging and so forth.
The Tanya Busch Team is beginning to use QR codes in our marketing: on real estate signs, flyers, and ads. So if you drive by one of our listings and wonder what the price is, you can scan the QR code (1 comments)

Few will argue that buying and selling real estate isn’t a specialized business transaction, or that when you want to buy or sell a property in the Lewiston-Auburn area, hiring a Lewiston-Auburn real estate agent isn’t the most common way to get the job done. It may be an excellent idea, but it doesn’t go quite far enough. All real estate agents aren’t the same, because there are two types of specialists: residential and commercial real estate agents. At the Tanya Busch Team, we specialize: Cookie Dean, with years of personal commercial investing experience, handles our commercial sales and (0 comments)
Positive Economic Signs for Real Estate - 01/13/12 08:47 AM
Enough already! Economy this! Housing market that!. It seems like we have been bombarded with mostly bad news forever. Every month Lewiston-Auburn would-be home sellers and prospective buyers hope for signs that the economy has turned around, and this month was no exception. Despite the relatively good news that unemployment numbers continue to show promise, the question remains: just how will we know when the Lewiston-Auburn real estate market begins its upswing for real? Market forecasting is always a bit like reading tea leaves, but for a change let’s take a look at a couple areas that could be indicators of (5 comments)
Home Improvements: Do They Sell Your House? - 01/06/12 07:11 PM
If you are a Lewiston Auburn Maine property owner who is seriously considering whether to sell your house, you know there are many practical details that bear careful consideration. One of the first is the decision regarding whether or not -- and if so, to what extent - refurbishing or upgrading the property will be a sound financial strategy. The first and most obvious advantage of making home improvements before you sell your house is that it will be more marketable in a highly competive market! You can be sure that it will become more attractive to potential Lewiston Auburn (0 comments)
Augusta Maine Sellers May Want To Consider Lease Options In the Current Central Maine Real Estate Market - 01/04/12 08:14 AM
The term you hear most often is the simple ‘lease option’ – actually short for “Lease with the Option to Purchase”. It is an agreement made between a home owner and renter that includes a provision giving the tenant the opportunity to purchase the property at a pre-determined price at the end of a rental period at the tenant’s option. In the 2012 real estate market with tight lending stipulations, the provisions of a lease option agreement can make sense for sellers under certain circumstances and be attractive to potential Capital area buyers as well! It’s important for Augusta Maine property (0 comments)
I’ve heard it said that there are really only two kinds of people in the Lewiston-Auburn area: those who make New Year’s resolutions, and everybody else. Now that we are fully launched into 2012, humanity will have already separated itself into the two camps. One group is automatically removed from any possibility of failing to live up to any resolutions. And then there are the rest of us... When I googled ‘resolution’ this morning I didn’t find any good synonyms but I did notice that the word has a lot to do with either A) the act of resolving or (3 comments)
